Gardener calendar for June 2017

We offer a detailed Lunar sowing calendar for June 2017, which includes everything useful recommendations for the gardener, based on how the position of the Moon is expected to affect plants.

01.06 – the first Lunar quarter is in the sign of Virgo. The day for planting is neutral; you can plant dill, fennel, weed and prevent the appearance of pests in the garden. Transplanting plants on this day will contribute to their rapid growth.

02.06 – The moon begins to grow, but does not change its position. The day is also neutral, and therefore, you can use the recommendations of the previous day.

03.06 – 04.06 – The moon continues to grow, but is already moving into the sign of Libra. On this day you can plant cauliflower, peas, tomatoes, and corn. You can plant seeds for seedlings, but only if they are peppers, eggplants or beans. These days, grafting and watering of plants is not recommended.

05.06 – 07.06 – The moon does not change phase, but moves into the sign of Scorpio. These are favorable days for planting, especially for planting cucumbers, zucchini, Chinese cabbage. But it’s better to prune trees and shrubs on another day. The period from the fifth to the sixth of June is favorable for planting.

08.06 – The moon has already moved into Sagittarius, the day is suitable for planting plants for seeds, as well as for working on pest control. It is not recommended to carry out watering, picking, pinching and pruning.

09.06 is a full moon. The full moon is an extremely unfavorable day for any work in the garden, so don't take risks.

10.06 – 12.06 – during this period the waning moon is in the sign of Capricorn, which means a favorable period for sowing carrots, beetroot, onions, cucumbers, zucchini, parsley and dill.

13.06. – 14.06 – during this period when the Heavenly Body is in the sign of Aquarius, it is recommended to abandon planting in favor of such work as weeding, loosening, pest control and prevention.

June 15 and 16 – The Moon moves into the sign of Pisces, favorable days for both planting and replanting any plants. But, these days you should stop sowing lawn grass and digging up root crops (since the horses will quickly rot).

17.06 – 19.06 – Aries, the constellation in which the Moon resides these days, is a very infertile sign. Therefore, it is better to refuse planting work. This time can be devoted to such chores as fertilizing, loosening the soil, and digging out weeds.

June 22 and 23 - since Gemini, in whose sign the Heavenly Body resides, is a barren sign, planting, transplanting, picking is prohibited. If weeding of the beds is scheduled on these days, then it must be done by hand. Any work that could touch the roots of plants and injure them cannot be carried out, this is an unfavorable period.

June 24th is the New Moon. Any operations in the garden and manipulation of plants are strictly prohibited; the day is unfavorable.

25.06.- 27.06 – The moon is growing in the sign of Leo. Recommendations include weeding, loosening, pest control. For other operations the days are neutral. You cannot sow, replant, water or feed plants during this period.

June 28 and 29 – The Moon moves from Leo to Virgo. You can plant seeds, pick seedlings, and carry out pest control. These days it is also best to prepare medicinal plants.

June 30 is the last summer day when the Moon grows in Libra. Only grafting and spraying of growing crops are undesirable. For other types of work the day is neutral.

In June there will be only two extremely unfavorable days for planting, these are, as already noted, the Full Moon and the New Moon. Neutral days do not mean a refusal to work in the garden, but it is best to use the recommendations of the Lunar Calendar on which day is best suited for a particular type of agricultural work. Good luck in the garden!

In June, dawn meets dawn.

In June, raspberries, viburnum, and rose hips begin to bloom. In the second half of the month, strawberries ripen (photo). Near fruit trees and in beds, the soil is carefully loosened, simultaneously destroying weeds. Vegetables and fruit trees are constantly watered; during watering, you can apply fertilizer, and tomatoes are planted. After flowering, it is advisable to treat fruit trees against pests.
In the middle of the month, potatoes are hilled. Under climbing plants install supports. Entrances of carrots and cucumbers should be thinned out. Loosen cucumber beds not recommended since the roots of these vegetables are located close to the surface.
Flowers in June need to be watered, weeded and loosened, and the soil around them needs to be fed. It is better to water flower beds early in the morning, since during the day watering in the sun can spoil the leaves.

  • Not recommended- spraying, grafting.
  • If, despite the natural fall of the ovaries in June, too many fruits still remain in the crown, they should be thinned out manually. Then those left behind will grow larger and best quality. Leave 2-3 fruits on the fruit bunches of apple and pear trees, remove the smallest and already damaged, twisted, ugly fruits.
  • If birds have chosen your cherries and you are left without a harvest, cover the crown with protective bird nets. This is the most reliable means of crop protection.
  • If your apple tree bloomed profusely, but did not produce a harvest, obviously, for this variety of apple tree to pollinate, it is necessary to have an apple tree of another variety nearby; self-pollination is not enough for it. If there is no room to plant a second tree, graft a cutting (or dormant bud) of another apple-pollinating variety onto your non-bearing tree. Often it is enough to plant one branch of a pollinating variety, preferably in the middle of the crown. Don't miss the budding deadline - from August 10 to early September.
  • If the tree has grown too quickly and is late in bearing fruit, do not apply any more fertilizers or trim the crown. Tie up the fruit branches that grow steeply upward, giving them a more horizontal position. This will slow down the growth of the tree and speed up the onset of fruiting.

At the beginning of the month we continue to sow vegetables and plant seedlings. Considering that the temperatures are already summer, you need to take care of shading the planted seedlings of tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkin and other crops for several days.

The beds of carrots and beets for autumn and winter reserves after sowing are mulched with compost, grass, and covered non-woven material. We regularly check that the soil at the sowing depth remains moist. Has it dried out? Carefully pour from a watering can.

It makes sense to hold off on sowing radishes and annual green crops (spinach, arugula, lettuce, etc.): long days and hot weather prevent plants from growing green mass, for the sake of which they are cultivated, forcing them to move to flowering at an accelerated pace. Dill can still be sown even during short nights: it will not grow particularly lush, but it will provide aroma.

It’s not too late to sow early and mid-ripening tomatoes with seeds so that by autumn you will have delicious fruits for salads, juices, ketchups. Tomatoes without seedlings work well after grain green manure (rye, wheat, oats) incorporated into the soil in the fall. If there is no such area, add humus or compost to the bed before sowing.

In hot weather, seeds will germinate quickly if you ensure constant soil moisture at the seeding depth. Immediately after germination, the seedlings grow root system and therefore they are not developing very quickly, but in July they will catch up.

It is important to thin out the seedlings in time, leaving the strongest plants 50-70 cm apart from each other. We will carry out the first thinning at the stage of one true leaf, the second - when 3-4 leaves appear. If planted sparsely, you can leave not one, but 2-3 plants nearby.

If there is space, excess seedlings can be carefully transplanted. We will provide tomatoes good care: watering, loosening, hilling, treatment against aphids, but we will refuse pinching so as not to cause unnecessary wounds through which infection can be introduced.

If the soil is sufficiently fertilized, we will feed the seedless tomatoes for the first time during the budding period: 0.5-1 l organic infusion, 1-1.5 tablespoons of superphosphate (extract) per 10 liters of water.

Cucumbers sown in June will provide a harvest in August. In the summer, it makes sense to sow varieties and hybrids suitable for pickling and canning. It’s a pity to send the harvest that we will harvest in June to banks: more fresh salads not satisfied. And it’s hot at the beginning of summer to do preparations.

It's not too late to sow 2-3 squash seeds. The figured fruits of this pumpkin culture, taken at the ovary stage, canned separately or added to jars with cucumbers: tasty and beautiful. The grown squash fruits will not be superfluous on the summer table. They can be fried, cut into cubes, stuffed, carefully removing the seed chamber.

The June concerns of summer residents are described in great detail in the article

These days the power of the Moon is especially aggressive: it either completely “takes away” the vital energy of a still fragile plant (in full moon), or it satiates him so much that he simply cannot withstand this powerful flow that disrupts the functioning of internal processes plants. That is why it is so important for a gardener to use a sowing calendar in his work.

It has been noted that the Moon has a particularly beneficial effect on perennials, if they have time to be planted in open ground in the growing phase of the Earth’s natural satellite. In these favorable days any work in the field, vegetable garden, garden or at home with indoor plants will lead to a positive effect: fast and healthy growth.
