Putty VGT extra. Wood putty VGT

I don’t plan to condemn wood putty from the domestic brand VGT, especially since the product does not have any serious shortcomings. VGT material is a common non-elastic putty in the mid-price segment, which is required for minor repairs of solid wood products or its processed products (for example, acrylic putty is often used to repair laminate or chipboard panels).

Acrylic putty has only one drawback, common to the entire product group, and not to a specific manufacturer - it is stationary and NOT elastic after the mixture hardens. It is advisable to use the mixture on monolithic surfaces, and not at the junction of two or more parts. Why is that? It’s one thing to “patch” on the surface of a monolith, where if external factors (humidity or temperature) influence the array, the change in geometry will be insignificant... And it’s a completely different matter when they try to mask the joining seams with the help of putty. The canvas will “walk”, and such a seam will crack.

In general, if some “gifted” person accidentally drilled into your laminate floor, use VGT putty to restore the surface without a twinge of conscience! But if the laminate tiles in the flooring have come apart due to the “clumsy” installation of the builders, it is not advisable to use the material! As soon as the external conditions in the apartment change (the heating season begins or ends), the geometry of the laminate flooring dimensions will change and the putty seam will either separate (crack) or be squeezed out due to the fact that the dies will close together. For seams it is advisable to use special. sealant (as an example, siliconized White House)

Acrylic wood putty, of course, can be used for “pure” solid wood, and not just its processed products. Using the material, you can straighten roughness and cracks, as well as repair various defects, such as falling out knots.

If you use an acrylic mixture for wood that is subject to further finishing, you should take into account that the material, after drying, cannot be painted (impregnated) in the mixture. Accordingly, to restore tinted wood, it is MANDATORY to select the shade of the restoration material. If this is not done, there will be only one decoration option left - painting the surface without translucently emphasizing the natural texture.

Consumer properties of VGT putty:

  • Elastic paste-like fine consistency;
  • No odor (water-based material);
  • Availability of several color shades of “wood” in the manufacturer’s assortment;
  • Ease of working with the material (easily distributed in a minimal layer);
  • Several packaging options for the material;
  • Availability of purchase in most hardware stores;
  • Completeness of the manufacturer's instructions (the basics are indicated on the packaging);
  • For interior and exterior woodworking;
  • Water resistance of the finished putty joint;
  • The fine consistency allows it to be used in finishing;
  • The strength of the final seam or “patch” against punching;
  • The putty joint is not elastic to compression or rupture (cracks);
  • Mid-price segment (the price tag for a minimum container of 300g is about 45 rubles);
  • No special required. tool (it is better to have a regular silicone spatula).

Let me summarize the review: Acrylic putty for wood "Extra" VGT - I recommend it! The material is easy to work with, inexpensive to purchase and available in retail chains, and what else is needed for individuals undergoing renovations!?) The only negative of the brand, for me, is the narrow range of shades. VGT putties are well presented in light shades of wood, but with dark shades there is a real problem. Or almost black Wenge... Or reddish Mahogany... But what about the ordinary average Walnut!?! So sometimes you have to buy putty mixtures from the manufacturer Prestige.

I hope my review was useful to you! Thanks for reading!)

Putties with acrylic resins as a binder perfectly allow water vapor to pass through and have modifications for both interior and exterior use.

Most often putty is used for interior finishing. If the room has normal air humidity, then standard putty is quite suitable for the job. This material can be applied to concrete, brick, stone or plastered walls of those rooms that will not be without heating for a long period. This white levels the walls and ceilings for further painting or wallpapering.

Slots, cracks and potholes up to 7 mm can be leveled in one layer, and larger irregularities are smoothed out after applying the next layer over the hardened base layer. This ready-made composition does not need to be diluted with water, and it should only be applied at a temperature not lower than +7 C. It hardens completely after 24 hours and exhibits slight shrinkage in thickness. The same composition with a slightly higher viscosity is produced in the “Pro” series.

Universal putty for external and internal “VGT” exhibits excellent adhesion to various types of surfaces: concrete, brickwork, cement or plaster, natural stone and even glass. This material is moisture resistant and is not afraid of low temperatures. Therefore, this composition can be used both for the facade and indoors with “dry” and “wet” conditions. Since the finished composition contains water, it can only be used at a temperature not lower than +5 C so that it has a working viscosity, although in the hardened state it is resistant to frost down to -40 C. This coating is moisture resistant, it allows water vapor to pass through it into side of lower concentration, which maintains comfortable indoor conditions. the material can be a topcoat after priming. It fills uneven areas and crevices up to 7 mm deep in one layer.

Acrylic grout for between or granite tiles, as well as between other decorative coatings, can withstand low temperatures and precipitation, therefore it is successfully used for both interior and exterior work. This material extends the life of the finish and prevents moisture from getting under or porcelain tiles. acrylic putty is slightly more expensive because it contains modifiers, which make it resistant to weathering. It is also used for interior work in rooms with high humidity or in sensitive areas that are exposed to dampness. In addition to mineral bases, this composition also exhibits excellent adhesion to wood. This grout also shrinks slightly, but the surface is as smooth as after application. It hardens in 1 day and is an excellent base for most decorative facade materials.

Wooden surfaces are processed in a carpentry shop, but they do not always have a perfectly smooth surface, which is needed for painting and other types of finishing. You can fill cracks in the wood, holes from knots and other irregularities with a special acrylic putty “VGT” for wood. It is moisture resistant and can be used inside and outside the building. This is another use of acrylic binder, thanks to which this Russian one creates many varieties of its products.
