DIY screen made of plastic pipes (PVC). Master class on using the teaching aid “Multifunctional screen” Pipe screens ship for kindergarten

Before starting the main work, it is necessary to prepare all the parts used. It will be very unpleasant if at the most crucial moment one of the pipe parts or finishing material is missing.

In order to create a simple screen from plastic pipes, you will need:

Advice! For all consumables, it is always worth making calculations taking into account a 10% reserve. This will greatly help in case of damage to parts or inaccurate calculations.

Preparing and assembling the screen

Having prepared all the necessary materials and tools, you can begin assembling the structure. If the plastic pipes were not cut in advance, this must be done before starting assembly.

Connection of plastic pipes

The height of each section depends on the purpose of the screen, but there is no need to make it much larger than the child’s height. To assemble one section you will need:

  • Two identical pipes that determine the height.
  • Two pipes of the same length, defining the width of the section.
  • Four plastic angles for connecting PVC pipes.

Cold or hot welding methods can be used to connect the structure. If you have at your disposal a special apparatus for heating polyvinyl chloride pipes, then it is worth using it. Otherwise, you need to purchase glue for connecting PVC pipes from a specialized store. This glue melts for a short period of time the section of the pipe to which it was applied, allowing you to quickly connect the parts.

The complete process of assembling one section of the screen will look like this:

More detailed information on how to independently connect PVC pipes using cold welding can be found in this video:

Attention! If hot welding is used instead of glue, then the differences will only be in the method of heating the plastic parts. To do this, you should use a special soldering iron, which simultaneously melts the parts of the structure to be connected.

Connecting sections to each other

After all parts of the screen have been adjusted to size and assembled, it is necessary to fasten them into a common structure. To do this, you can use double fasteners for plastic pipes, and if they are missing, fastening can be done with plastic clamps.

In both cases, the screen doors will be movable, which will allow it to be conveniently moved and installed in rooms of various sizes.

Decor

To designate the enclosed space, you will need to sew covers for the plastic screen. The choice of design depends entirely on personal preference, so feel free to use your imagination completely.

For example, for holidays and other significant events it is worth preparing the appropriate design of the fabric. You can involve children in this process so that they themselves can suggest some ideas for decorating such a screen.

To secure the fabric along its perimeter, fabric strips of the required length are sewn or fastened with Velcro. This will allow you to change the design at any time and wash the fabric if it becomes dirty. All you have to do is tie a piece of fabric to a plastic screen, and it will be ready for use.

For additional decoration, you can sew pockets for storing small items, various appliques, or paint it with safe paints.

Note! All activities, except those that are potentially hazardous to health (for example, working with PVC glue or a pipe soldering iron), can be performed with children. Such work, if done in a playful way, develops children’s motor skills and teaches children to work.

Examples

Here are a few photos of finished products that have been successfully made and are used in educational institutions at various levels, as well as at home. We hope that they will give you new ideas that can be implemented in reality.

Using the recommendations outlined above, you can make a simple screen from plastic pipes with your own hands for kindergarten or personal use at home. If you have the necessary materials and tools, such work will take very little time. If you have your own ideas for making plastic screens, do not forget to share them in the comments with other visitors to the mainavi.ru website.

DIY screen: 4 stages of production

Do you want to know how to make a screen with your own hands? To do this, just read the corresponding detailed instructions. It also contains many visual photographic illustrations.

From the choice of design and materials to decoration

The screen manufacturing instructions include the following steps:

  1. Drawing up a drawing;
  2. Selection of materials;
  3. Creating a wireframe;
  4. Decoration.

Stage No. 1: drawing up a drawing

At this stage, it is enough to decide on a couple of criteria:

  1. Number of sashes. The best option is three. This design is quite multifunctional and can be used:
  • For the room. Separate a corner or bed from the rest of the room to create a separate cozy corner in it;

  • For puppet theater. It is enough just to leave a hole on the central flap for the appearance of dolls;

  • For garden. Three sections are enough to create a place protected from prying eyes and sunlight on your suburban area ;

  1. Dimensions. The room should be selected in accordance with its dimensions; large structures will be used more effectively on the site, but, for example, in a kindergarten, on the contrary, a low partition will be sufficient.

After you decide on the specified parameters, you don’t even have to draw the diagram from scratch, but find a suitable template on the Internet and insert your own size values:

Stage No. 2: selection of materials

The screen can be made literally from scrap materials. Here are examples of some interesting solutions:

  1. Plastic pipes. If you have a pipe soldering iron, then there is nothing easier and faster than soldering a frame made of polypropylene pipes. They will make a practical and moisture-resistant design, perfect for use outdoors, near a river, in a bathroom or next to a pool;

  1. Cardboard. The price of this option is the lowest, it is well suited for a children's room;

  1. Polycarbonate. Another not very expensive and practical option that can look stylish indoors and withstand all weather conditions outdoors;

  1. Tree. Despite the abundance of different materials, wooden frames covered with fabric and paper are an immortal classic for making screens, which we will also turn to.

If children or allergy sufferers live in the house, but you should not experiment with artificial materials that often contain allergens, it is better to opt for natural wood and natural fabric.

Stage No. 3: creating a frame

A master class on making frames looks like this:

Photo Description
Let's prepare:
  • 12 pine planks 170 by 2 by 6 cm;
  • 12 pine planks 60 by 2 by 6 cm;
  • Pencil;
  • Carpentry adhesive;
  • Brush;
  • Wood varnish;
  • Chisel;
  • Hammer;
  • Clamps;
  • Cordless or corded screwdriver;
  • Sandpaper;
  • 12 metal corners;
  • Screws
Apply markings on all planks, 60 mm away from the edges.
Making cuts according to the markings.
We carry out with your own hands using a hammer and chisel.
  • We apply apply glue to the inner parts of the notches with a brush;
  • Connecting slats in frames, fixing with clamps;
  • Grinding sand the frames after the glue has hardened;
  • Processing varnish.
Screw it on corners with screws to strengthen the structure.

Stage No. 4: decoration

All that remains is to assemble the frames together and decorate them.

The creative development of preschool children within the framework of kindergarten is one of the important stages in the formation of a growing personality.

The group environment and surrounding objects promote curiosity, creativity, bold trials and discoveries.

Taking into account the fact that the child spends most of the daytime in a group, the surrounding space and interior in it become part of the gaming and educational process. The more opportunities children have to realize their own fantasies, the easier it is for a teacher to direct the learning process in the right direction.

note

The child treats objects and space as a resource, seeing in them opportunities for realizing his plans.

One of the interior details that can help in the creative development and organization of group life is a stylized screen. Being an important attribute of theatrical performances, with a touch of mystery, it evokes genuine delight and curiosity among children.

The simplest puppet theater attracts children much more than painted fictional characters.

Depending on the size, with the help of a screen you can stage scenes both for puppet theater and for real small actors, adding entertainment to the process and increasing interest.

The screen in this case becomes an urgently needed item.

If the group’s budget does not allow purchasing a ready-made option, but the children have a desire to organize a theater club, you can make your own screen from plastic pipes for the kindergarten with your own hands.

The design of this multifunctional device is very simple.

Depending on the purpose of use and the age of the children, various designs can be made.

This could be a large full-length theatrical screen.

Or a small tabletop version of the screen to independently show scenes with puppet characters.

An important factor is the lightness and versatility of the design: children really appreciate the rare opportunity to independently change the arrangement of interior items, using them not as a mandatory established order, but as a resource for realizing ideas.

This develops management skills and also gives more space for play and creativity.

As a rule, the standard model of a screen made of PVC pipes is made with three sections.

It is enough to collect 3 frames, connect them together and cover them with beautifully decorated curtains.

However, this is not a mandatory rule, and if you wish and have the material, you can make a larger number of frame components. The design of the fabric stretched over the frame depends only on personal preferences - you can choose it together with your children from several options by making removable covers with Velcro fastenings.

When choosing covers, you can show your imagination and creativity.

Different colors of covers can be associated with seasons or themed holidays. For example, a green background in spring, yellow and orange - with the onset of autumn, blue or blue - in the winter season.

There is a lot of room for imagination here for the teacher.

Making a screen from plastic pipes with your own hands will not require large expenses. You will need propylene pipes of various lengths, plastic corners and double-sided fasteners to connect the sections to each other.

All this can be taken after a recent renovation, or purchased at any specialized store for repairs.

The pipes are connected to each other using a plastic corner.

The sections are connected to each other with special double fasteners.

A special machine for welding plastic pipes made of propylene, which is used by professional plumbers during installation, can be a good help.

If you have nowhere to borrow it, you can also use the conventional heating method over the stove.

If desired, PVC pipes can be painted. For durability, you should use a mixture of putty and regular gouache.

Various ways to use multifunctional screens in kindergarten are suggested by the children themselves.

To sew covers, you can use any available fabric. It must be remembered that it must be durable and easy to wash, since children's games are fraught with various consequences for any furniture, and the screen will not be an exception.

It is best to choose a bright and colorful material.

Depending on the design, you may need Velcro fasteners, ribbons or cords for garters, additional material for pockets or loops, and reliable adhesive.

Thanks to the principle of accessibility, children have the opportunity to independently change the space in their group at any time.

Manufacturing process

The step-by-step instructions for making a screen from kindergarten are quite simple.

  1. Once the dimensions of the future screen have been determined, you need to cut the PVC pipes to the desired length. You can either do this yourself (plastic material does not require much effort).

    You can ask for cutting when purchasing at the store.

  2. Next, we fasten the section frames using corner joints.

    All material is quite strong and durable to use.

    Here you will need either a special apparatus or a little physical effort to heat and insert the plastic pipe profile into the corner.

    The manufacturing process is simple and will take you a little time.

    Now it's time to move on to the next step: sewing the covers.

    The cover can carry a semantic load.

  3. The area of the selected fabric must correspond to the size of the frame section. It is recommended to stitch the edges of the segment. Fastenings made from Velcro tape or loops are sewn or glued along the top side of the future cover.

    Covers can be of different colors, from plain pastel to brightly delicate children's drawings.

  4. If the assembled screen requires painting, do it in a well-ventilated area and let the structure dry.

    It is better to paint the intersectional fasteners separately so that they do not lose their functionality.

  5. The final stage is decoration. You can stick colorful appliqués or sew small pockets onto stretched covers.

    These additions will help develop children's motor skills and further increase the functionality of the new screen, allowing it to be used in various games and performances.

Screen made of plastic pipes for kindergarten

The main purpose of polyvinyl chloride pipes is water supply, sewerage and heating. However, they can be used for other purposes as well. For example, make a screen from plastic pipes with your own hands for a kindergarten. It will help create an additional comfort zone for children in children's educational institutions.

Use of plastic pipes

Craftsmen with great imagination can use almost any materials in the household. So, it would seem that specialized PVC products can be used exclusively for their intended purpose. But human imagination shows a completely different result.

A variety of crafts are made from such a light but durable material - decorative elements for the garden, greenhouses for fruits and vegetables, stylish shelves for storing small items and much more.

The children's screen, which can easily be used at home or in preschool educational institutions, deserves special attention. This decorative element helps to separate a small comfort zone, which is especially important in a society with young children of different sexes.

But such a screen can be used not only for changing clothes. It can be used in creativity as a puppet theater or to fence off a small play area.

It may seem that installation work will require special skills or tools, but even a beginner can handle it. Next, we will conduct a small master class on making a simple screen from available materials.

Required materials and tools

Before starting the main work, it is necessary to prepare all the parts used. It will be very unpleasant if at the most crucial moment one of the pipe parts or finishing material is missing.

In order to create a simple screen from plastic pipes, you will need:

  • PVC pipes. Their number depends on the calculated dimensions of the screen. The amount of materials for each section is selected from calculations - 2 pipes defining the height, and 2 pipes determining the width of the section. We multiply them by the number of screen sections and get the total number of materials needed.
  • Fitting. You will need 4 connecting corners for each section. If you plan to use intermediate strips, you will also need to purchase several triple connectors.
  • Textile. To calculate the required dimensions, we will use mathematical knowledge and calculate the area. To do this, multiply the height of the screen section by its width, and then by the number of similar sections. The result will show how much fabric will be needed for finishing.
  • Hacksaw for shortening pipes.
  • Soldering iron for PVC pipes or special glue.
  • Materials for additional decoration - appliqués, pockets, compositions for dyeing fabric.

  • Clean and degrease the edges of the pipes.
  • We apply cold welding at the joints - on the outer side of the edge of the pipe and the inner surface of the connecting corner.
  • After the surface has softened, the pipe is connected to the fittings.
  • After a few seconds, you can begin connecting the remaining parts of the section. Pipes of the same length must be parallel to each other.
  • Excess glue is removed with a soft cloth.
  • The remaining sections are assembled in the required quantity in a similar manner.

More detailed information on how to independently connect PVC pipes using cold welding can be found in this video:

Connecting sections to each other

After all parts of the screen have been adjusted to size and assembled, it is necessary to fasten them into a common structure. To do this, you can use double fasteners for plastic pipes, and if they are missing, fastening can be done with plastic clamps.

In both cases, the screen doors will be movable, which will allow it to be conveniently moved and installed in rooms of various sizes.

How to make a screen partition for a room with your own hands - instructions

A traditional screen for dividing space in a room is created from a wooden frame and fabric stretched between slats. But thanks to modern technologies, there are much more materials and ways to make a screen partition for a room with your own hands.

What is needed for making

Lightweight screen partitions, made using a wooden frame, paper or fabric, are suitable for visual zoning of a room. When using a durable screen, you can achieve functionality: install small shelves for accessories, and, if necessary, hang clothes and bags on the top of the structure.

In order for the partition screen to serve for a long time and not cause trouble, at the project planning stage you need to take care of the availability of all materials. Necessary tools for a small screen partition of 3 sections with paper and fabric filler:

  • dense textiles with a width of at least 0.5 m - to fill the gap in the structure;
  • paper and tea leaves for aging - calculate the number of sheets based on their size, and take at least 5 tbsp of tea leaves. l. for 3 liters of water;
  • timber for the frame with a section of 4 x 4 cm – 6 pcs. 2 m long and 6 pcs. short elements (0.5 – 1 m);
  • nails and screws of different sizes;
  • accompanying elements: PVA glue, wood varnish, paint brush, scissors;
  • construction stapler, tape measure, screwdrivers, hammer, square to determine the accuracy of the design;
  • door canopies – 4 pcs. small size for fastening sections;
  • braid for decorating the joints of fabric and wood.

You can do without the help of a drill, but if you have a tool, it’s easy to screw the screws into the partition screen.

The fabric-paper web will be replaced by sheets of drywall, which can be attached to the profile with small nails and self-tapping screws.

How to make a screen partition for a room with your own hands

Making a screen partition with your own hands using fabric is a simple process even for a person who has recently started creating homemade things for the home.

Moreover, a lightweight changing partition is an excellent opportunity to practice making simple furniture for your home.

Before designing your own screen plan, explore a few ideas for creating functional and durable screens.

Frame making

After drawing up a sketch of the partition screen and calculating the dimensions, they begin to manufacture the frame:

  1. Adjustment of bars to size. The wood is sawn, the accuracy of the coincidence of the parallel and vertical slats of the screen-partition is checked.
  2. Wood processing. It is necessary to coat parts of the frame with primer and impregnation before joining the frame, so that the sides also absorb the protective substances.
  3. Connection of elements. You can use spikes by making grooves in each bar, like on zippers for clothes (suitable holes are sawn through each element). When the grooves are stuck into each other, they are coated with adhesive. The second option is to use nails and screws.
  4. Processing of the finished partition screen. Treat the wooden frame with stain and leave until completely dry.

You can make a screen-partition with legs, then the horizontal bars from below are attached 7-10 higher from the vertical wooden slats. In this way, 2 more sections of the partition screen are made if the structure consists of 3 parts.

Screen cloth

While the frame for the screen is drying, prepare the main canvas to fill the structure:

  1. Calculation. Calculate the width and length of the fabric pieces for the partition screen, add 4-5 cm in the areas of attachment to the partition frame. Choose the color of the fabric so that it matches the interior design, but does not show through the paper too much.
  2. Marking. Cut out 3 pieces to insert into the screen, decorate with paper pages or other elements. The pages are pre-soaked in tea for 2-3 hours, taken out and dried well. Iron the sheets.
  3. Gluing pages. Apply PVA glue to the paper, apply it to the textile and smooth it out. Make sure that the glue does not leak onto the fabric; it is very convenient to use a paint brush for this.
  4. Fabric fastening. Use a staple gun to secure the fabric to the screen. Both parts of the partition should dry well. The distance between brackets should be 4-5 cm.

Instead of a stapler, rubber-based glue or decorative loops are used to attach the canvas to the partition.

Special construction pins are also suitable for these purposes.

Screen assembly

The final stage is connecting the sections of the screen-partition. Pre-prepare hinges corresponding to the size of the frames and the expected weight of the partition screen. Start assembly:

  1. Mounting markings. Using a tape measure, mark the places where the loops will be located. The distance from the top and bottom borders should be the same for all sections.
  2. Installation of mechanisms. Using self-tapping screws and a drill (screwdriver), install the previously selected hinges.
  3. Varnish treatment. Paint - stain - is applied before joining the parts, but it is better to varnish after attaching all the elements.
  4. Processing with finishing details. Using braid, connect the places where the fabric is attached to the wood - glue it using PVA or rubber glue. It is important to ensure the straight position of the braid parallel to the wood of the frame.

After 1-2 days you can start using the screen. In addition to the fabric, if desired, pockets are attached in which various small items are stored. The main thing is that the partition can withstand the weight.

Alternative option from cardboard tubes

When making screen partitions, any available means are used: plastic pipes, acrylic panels, bamboo branches and even CDs or records.

A screen-partition made of cardboard tubes, which is very similar to bamboo, only smoother, but just as environmentally friendly, looks original.

It’s easy to make a screen partition out of cardboard yourself:

  1. Pipe fitting. Cut the cardboard using scissors or a construction knife (you can alternate it to achieve a non-uniform effect). Lay out the structure in a row, fitting the bottom along one line.
  2. Marking. Make marks for holes on each pipe 20 cm from the bottom of the future screen-partition. Do the same 1 m from the top of the structure, focusing on the highest pipe (mark point B).

    Make another point in the center of the partition and call it C.

  3. Make holes. Using a drill at low speeds, drill holes strictly according to the markings on the partition screen.
  4. Connecting parts. Pass through points A, then B and C along the rope, slide the screen and tie the decorative thread securely.

The final stage is the processing of the partition screen with a coloring material. You can choose a light brown shade, and additionally draw “eyes”, like those of trees, imitating bamboo.

Video on how to make a screen partition

To understand how to make a screen, watch a video from a professional. Detailed recommendations and some secrets will help you create the ideal decorative partition for your apartment!

A beautiful hand-made screen-partition is a source of pride for the owner and an excellent element of the interior, zoning the space and performing other functions.

Pipe screen

A screen made of pipes is an original device for zoning a room. At the same time, screens made from scraps of plastic pipes are affordable, easy to make - just a godsend for home craftsmen.

The function of screens - dividing a room and a light, adjustable partition of the desired degree of transparency - can also be realized using white plastic water pipes, which can be painted in different colors if desired.

Despite the simplicity of work and pronounced handicraft, screens made of pipes look unusually stylish, and at first glance it is difficult to determine what kind of creative material was used to make this stylish decor.

The purpose of all screens and their additional capabilities - a stand for a mirror, an open storage system, an additional vertical plane for placing photo collages and paintings - all these types of tasks can be performed by a screen made of pipes.

Bright white rings of different diameters, connected in a flat design, attract the eye and can become an effective decorative addition to the interior. The designer and inventor of screens made from scraps of white plastic pipes also foresaw powerful prospects: the possibility of making curvilinear and fancy shapes - it all depends on the purpose and location of the screen.

DIY pipe screen

To make exclusive decor from polyvinyl chloride pipes, you will need pipes themselves - as many different diameters as possible, but no less than three types. The more rings of different sizes, the more interesting the screen design will be.

You will need a tool for cutting PVC; a metal file will do. The rings are connected with glue that is suitable in composition for gluing polymers; it is very desirable - the adhesive composition should be completely safe and suitable for residential premises. Cutting pipes on special machines will give an even and smooth end of the pipe, and if possible, the pipes are cut upon purchase.

The width of the screen made of glued rings should not be less than 50 mm; this contact area of the rings will be sufficient for strong fastening. The width of the screen can be greater. Moreover, craftsmen use PVC pipes to make not only screens, but also shelves for storing shoes, wine bottles and kitchen utensils.

Designs made from thin rings are only suitable for panels and small decorative frames.

An interesting decor made from thin rings of plastic pipes, painted in various shades, can decorate the walls and become an elegant accessory.

From PVC pipe you can make frames for watches and mirrors, make a photo collage into a complete piece, or create a convenient creative shelf for things and toys.

The assembly principle is always the same - cutting pipes to size, selecting diameters and gluing. This is not the first year that a Christmas tree made from pipe scraps has been surprising with its thoughtful design and minimalist laconicism of forms.

To make screens, shelves and any equipment and decor, you need to cut pipes. If you have to cut it by hand, you will have to prepare for a long process - you will need a lot of rings. The pipes are marked according to the width of the future rings - from five centimeters, fixed using a carpenter's vice and cut with a metal file.

After cutting, the edges of the pipes will not be nice and smooth enough, but PVC is easy to shape into any shape using heat. You can use a household iron - heating it to the highest temperature and ironing the cut of each ring through the parchment. If the product is double-sided - like a screen - then you will have to smooth out each cut.

The confectionery parchment must be peeled off from the cut immediately, without waiting for the polymer to cool.

Having prepared the required number of smooth rings, or better yet with a reserve, we begin assembling and gluing. It is convenient to lay out the rings on a flat surface, on a table or on the floor, and the final plane of the finished screen will depend on the evenness of the base. It is also possible to manufacture curved structures, but for this it will be necessary to make a base jig.

The edge of the screen can be made smooth by selecting rings, but a fantasy edge with a pattern of rings looks especially decorative. Large diameter pipe segments can also be used (white water pipes can have diameters up to 315 mm; there are other options for plastic pipes).

A screen made from rings cut from pipes of one or two diameters can look quite original.

When using rings of different diameters, lay out the largest ones first, and then fill the free areas with smaller rings. Random patterns or thoughtful symmetry - all this is planned in advance or invented during the process. All options are interesting. The edges of the screen can be curved or straight.

After selecting the rings according to the planned design of the screen, they begin gluing the rings. Polymer-based adhesives and liquid nails are suitable. The glue is carefully applied to the contact lines of the ring parts; excess glue should be immediately removed with a piece of cloth.

After connecting all the elements, you need to wait for the glue to dry completely.

note

You can paint the finished product with a brush, but aerosol cans with paints of various shades, including metallic - silver, bronze, and so on - will help add decorativeness, and much more accurately. You can paint the ring parts before assembly, and any color combinations are possible.

Ready-made screens can be attached to the wall or made in a fully mobile version, for example, on wheels. Large screen rings can serve as convenient shelves for storing magazines and newspapers.

You can make a screen shelf specifically for things and store them conveniently rolled into rolls - towels, daily items of clothing will be at hand, and the interior will become more interesting. A decor made from thin rings cut from small-diameter tubes can enliven the design of a room or kitchen.

Lamps made from PVC pipes are also a good opportunity to decorate the interior with a hand-made product.

Do-it-yourself screen - instructions for making a frame and how to choose fabric upholstery

Decorative partitions are designed to decorate the interior and delimit space. They have been known since ancient times. Compact, mobile and aesthetic screens were used hundreds and thousands of years ago in Egypt, the Roman Empire, Greece and China.

Rich people decorated such partitions with a variety of fabrics, precious stones and metals, and inlays. With a screen, you can make the space cozy, or turn the structure into a real art object, adding decorativeness and theatricality.

Make an interior and zoning element with your own hands.

Modern screens come in several types depending on the structure, purpose and materials used. When choosing a design option, you need to take into account the stylistic direction and the place in which the product will be located. Main varieties by functionality:

  • Casement (sliding). Until recently, screens were the only options. The product has a rigid frame on which fabric, paper or other material is stretched, and includes several frames connected to each other - 3–8 or more. If necessary, they are folded like an accordion and removed. Initially, the frame was made of wood, but later it was replaced with lighter aluminum.
  • Single screen. They include only one wide sash - it can be a frame made of any material with fabric or paper stretched over it, or a sheet of plastic, plywood, chipboard or glass mounted on a stand. It is recommended to equip this option with wheels.
  • Screen-book. Consists of a pair of leaves of the same or different widths. When it’s time to move it to another place, the product easily folds into a book. This type of product can be used for holiday photo shoots or simply for dressing up.
  • Flexible. For their manufacture, long thin sections (pipes, plates, slats) are used, which are connected to each other. The structure is a single wall. The peculiarity of flexible products is that they can be placed in a spiral, a wave, or even rolled into a roll and put aside.
  • Deaf. They consist of a different number of valves, but their peculiarity is complete opacity. For production, a solid board can be used (a screen made of plywood, chipboard, etc. is popular), thick fabric stretched over a frame, or cardboard inserted into the frame.
  • Transparent. They are often a transparent material stretched over a frame, such as tulle, organza or even starched gauze. No less in demand are metal versions made using the air forging technique, or wooden models with through openwork carvings.

When you decide to make a screen with your own hands, first decide on the appropriate material. Traditionally, a product of this type was made of wood - slats or solid boards. Today, creativity and originality are valued, so a variety of materials are used to make partitions. Common options:

  • Tree. A simple smooth board or material with a pattern cut out on it, or a structure made of slats or beams will do. Plywood is easy to process, light and inexpensive. You can even build a partition from old doors, after first restoring their panels and giving them a fresh look.
  • Plastic. Pipes made of this material are widely used, which are suitable for creating frames or frames. They are cheaper than metal ones and weigh less. The product made from plastic pipes is easy to assemble and disassemble. They are easy to care for: you just need to periodically brush off the dust from their surface. An alternative is plastic panels; it is very easy to make a partition from them. You can select several panels that have the same pattern and connect them to each other. The finished partition is well suited for a bathroom, swimming pool or garden shower.
  • Metal. Metal frames of a given shape are often used, which can be ordered from a specialist. Panels made of plastic, glass, wood are inserted into them, or fabric is stretched. Iron sheets look bulky and do not make the room cozy, but an ornament forged from twigs will give the partition a spectacular look. Often, metal pipes with a diameter of no more than 5 cm are used to create a frame. A screen of this type will decorate a garden or yard.
  • Cardboard. Cheap and affordable material from which you can make a creative, original screen with your own hands. It is very easy to work with it, because... you just need to cut out the parts in accordance with the diagram and fasten them into one sheet. Ready-made partitions are not suitable for the street, because... they will quickly deteriorate under the influence of weather factors.
  • Branches. This includes reed, willow, and bamboo. Screens made from them are mobile, light and visually simple. They go well with various interior styles: tropical, classic, empire, eco-style. Their production requires the performer to have wicker weaving skills. The finished product will look great in the garden and will not deteriorate from wind, rain and sun if the material is processed correctly.
  • CDs and vinyl records. These parts are connected to each other using staples or threads. The result is an original openwork canvas that can be hung anywhere in the room in the form of a wave, a semicircle or in a straight line.

The classic version is a fabric screen stretched over a wooden frame. The product is made in the form of a dressing table, book or accordion. The number of frames affects the final shape. Prepare the following tools and materials:

  • drill, screwdriver;
  • construction stepper;
  • hacksaw, sandpaper;
  • door hinges (12), screws (96);
  • textile;
  • wooden blocks (24);
  • varnish, paint, universal glue;
  • decorative elements (beads, ribbons, etc.).
  1. Measure 6 cm from the edge of each plank and draw a line. Then make cuts along the markings up to half the width of the planks.
  2. Make cuts from each edge of the plank by removing a layer of wood to the notch - place a chisel on the beam and hit it with a hammer. Apply universal glue to the inner surface and assemble the slats into the frame, then press them tightly.
  3. After the glue has dried, sand the surfaces with sandpaper and coat with wood varnish. Secure the door hinges to the frame with a screwdriver.
  4. The finished base for the screen should be decorated with fabric of any texture and color. Make a pattern according to the dimensions of the frame, taking into account the hems. Use a staple gun to attach the fabric to the base. The tension should be good. Start fastening in the following order: top, bottom and sides.
  5. Next, start assembling the screen for the door hinges. The latter will need 2 per 1 connection to make folding the product convenient in the future.

One interesting option is a cardboard screen. To make it yourself, order cardboard tubes designed for winding fabrics or linoleum. In a specialized store they are generally considered waste. The finished partition will have a wavy shape. Set of tools and materials:

  • cardboard tubes (16–20);
  • strong decorative rope (1 skein);
  • drill;
  • scissors, tape measure, pencil;
  • paint of a color suitable for the interior (optional).

If you decide to use pipes for linoleum, then 8–10 pieces will be enough. Their length is more than 3 m, so cut each one in half:

  1. Cut all the pipes to the required height and lay them out in a row.
  2. Measure 20 cm from the bottom edge and make a mark on each element (point A).
  3. Measure upward a segment 1 m long and make a new mark (point B).
  4. Next, mark point C in the center of each pipe. Drill holes in the marked places.
  5. Thread the decorative rope: first at points A, then B and C. After this, move the pipes and tie strong rope knots on the sides of the screen. The result will be a screen similar to a reed or bamboo partition.

Making a mobile screen with your own hands is possible using plastic pipes. A ready-made partition will help zone rooms or provide shelter from the sun’s rays on a hot day. Prepare:

  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws, nuts and washers;
  • paints, brush;
  • furniture wheels (4);
  • a board that will be the base;
  • a pair of flanges;
  • plastic pipes (3);
  • metal pipe to weight the base.

If necessary, plastic pipes can be replaced with metal products of similar width and length. Sequencing:

  1. Make markings on the board. Mark the places where the wheels will be attached.
  2. Secure the wheels to the board using self-tapping screws.
  3. Fix a weighting agent (metal pipe) on the bottom side of the base. Screw it on with a self-tapping screw and using holders.
  4. On the upper side of the base you will need to secure the flanges into which the pipes must be inserted.
  5. On top of one horizontal pipe, connect two vertical ones by inserting their ends into the connecting elbows.
  6. After finishing the work, paint the entire structure.
  7. Show your imagination, for example, hang thick fabric on the frame. An old curtain will do just fine, the main thing is that its size matches the width of the frame, and the pattern with the flower matches the main notes of the interior.

If you want to create a screen with your own hands for changing clothes, make the body from wide and thin boards of any type of wood. This design can even muffle sounds. It's easier to use MDF panels. The list of necessary tools and materials consists of:

  • screwdriver, construction gun, scissors;
  • primer or sealant;
  • decorative construction nails;
  • hinges for doors, upholstery tape;
  • acrylic paint;
  • 3 thin boards 45x180 cm;
  • 3 pieces of padding polyester 50x200 cm;
  • 3 pieces of thick fabric – 50x200 cm.

First, prepare the boards by covering one surface with primer (it will be the back part). Once the primer has dried, cover this side with acrylic paint. The following actions:

  1. Cut a strip of padding polyester slightly wider than the panel. Place on the board and secure with a construction gun. Cut off excess material on the sides.
  2. The piece of fabric should be the same size as the padding polyester. Attach it to the panel, stretch it, fold the edges and secure it over the padding polyester layer.
  3. Use glue to secure the upholstery tape around the edges. Additionally, secure it with nails. Repeat similar steps on all panels.
  4. Connect the structure by placing the two panels face down. Place furniture hinges at a distance of 10 cm from the top and bottom edges and attach them. At the end, fix the third panel in the same way.

You can make a screen with your own hands, which will be an ideal decoration for a kindergarten, from ordinary polypropylene pipes. In addition to them, it would be a good idea to prepare a special apparatus used for welding such pipes. If desired, you can paint all the elements in any color. Stages:

  1. Cut the PVC pipes to the desired length. Then fasten the section frames using corner joints.
  2. Sew covers from any fabric. Its area should be equal to the size of the frame section. Be sure to stitch the edges.
  3. Use Velcro strips or loops as fastenings. They will need to be sewn or attached along the top side of the cover.
  4. The final stage will be decorating with some floral motifs. Glue colorful appliqués or sew small pockets onto the cover stretched over each section.

A do-it-yourself screen of this type is somewhat more difficult to make than others because you need to show your skills in painting. Prepare:

  • mosquito net, wooden blocks;
  • long (5.7 cm) and short (1.27 cm) screws;
  • corner brackets, hinges;
  • stapler, drill;
  • scissors, brush;
  • acrylic white paint;
  • white paint for wooden surfaces;
  • glitter;
  • water-based protective coating.

Cut the bars, assemble them into a frame and connect them with corner brackets and self-tapping screws. If you decide to paint the frame white, do it immediately after assembly. Three frames need to be made. Further:

  1. Secure the mosquito net using a staple gun.
  2. Spread a water-based coating over the mesh. Wait until it dries.
  3. Apply the design with light strokes using acrylic paint. To create a shadow, you will need a little black or gray paint.
  4. To add brightness to the festive partition, coat some areas with PVA glue and sprinkle with glitter. Finally, connect all three frames with door hinges.

An interesting option is a Japanese-style product. To make it yourself, prepare:

  • bars 2x5 cm;
  • furniture hinges;
  • fabric of any color, texture;
  • thin cord (decorative) or rope;
  • hammer, chisel;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • glue, clamps;
  • brush, paint (varnish);
  • furniture corner, screws;
  • measuring tool;
  • sandpaper.

To begin, mark the bars by setting a distance of 5 cm from the edge and drawing a line across. Further actions:

  1. Make a cut to 1/2 the thickness of the block, remove part of the wood with a chisel and hammer to the depth of the cut. Do this on both sides of the planks.
  2. Connect the long and short parts perpendicular to each other, not forgetting to first apply wood glue to the inside of the recesses.
  3. Clamp the joints with clamps, wait until the glue dries and screw the furniture corners onto the joints. Finally, attach the fabric to the frame using a decorative cord - to do this, make fabric inserts around the perimeter.

How to make a screen for a room with your own hands: step-by-step instructions

A screen can not be seen in every home today, but in fact it can be useful in almost any home. Its main function is to divide a room into zones, thanks to which it can add variety to even a small apartment.

In one-room apartments, the screen is also used as a partition for changing clothes. And among other things, a beautiful screen is an excellent decorative item in the interior.

However, before making such a purchase, think about it: wouldn’t it be better to find out how to make a screen with your own hands?

How to make a decorative screen

A homemade screen, even taking into account the purchase of materials, can be cheaper than a purchased one, and may even look better. In addition, by creating a screen with your own hands, you can embody your best creative ideas in it and bring it as close as possible to the style of your home or a separate room.

Now we will tell you in detail how to make a vintage screen with your own hands. This decorative screen performs well as a partition and serves as an excellent decoration for a room in classic-type interiors.

Prepare the following materials and tools:

  • wooden blocks - 6 pcs. approximately 2 m in length, and another 6 pcs. Briefly speaking;
  • a piece of thick, non-transparent fabric;
  • book pages, letters, poems, etc.;
  • hammer;
  • strong tea leaves and brush;
  • furniture stapler;
  • door hinges (4 pcs.);
  • iron;
  • screws and nails;
  • PVA glue;
  • braid for decoration.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a screen

  1. To make a screen with your own hands, you need to create a frame. For this you will need wooden blocks: assemble three frames from them, connecting the top short bars with the long vertical ones. Secure them together with screws.
  2. The frames should be connected to each other using door hinges. Cover the structure with varnish and the frame is ready.
  3. Take the fabric and cut three identical pieces from it, which will fit the frames in size.
  4. After this, you need to artificially “age” the letters, poems, book pages and notes you have selected. To avoid wasting the originals on a screen, make photocopies of the sheets.
  5. The most important step is applying aged paper to pieces of fabric. Since PVA glue will be used in this case, you need to be careful that it does not leak onto the fabric.
  6. After the glue has completely dried, begin attaching the pieces of fabric to the frame using a furniture stapler. Nail the fabric onto one side of the frame, stretch it, smoothing out the wrinkles, and nail it to the other side.
  7. If there are any uneven edges of the fabric within sight that spoil the overall appearance of the screen, try covering them with tape of a suitable shade. Polish the frame that is not covered with cloth with sandpaper. Vintage screen-partition for the room, made by yourself, is ready!
  • Using the same principle as in this master class, you can create the frame of almost any screen with your own hands. A standard screen partition has three doors, but their number can be increased at your discretion.
  • Moreover, the screen is made with your own hands and from one frame, in the form of a solid panel. However, such a screen for a room will decorate the interior less successfully than a multi-leaf one.
  • When creating a frame, choose a light wood, otherwise it will be difficult to move the screen later.
  • Instead of wooden beams, you can use other materials for the frame, for example, bamboo sticks or metal rods.

A decorative screen can become an even more interesting decoration for your home if you make it mixed and decorate each panel in its own style. For example, one screen can be left opaque, the second covered with translucent fabric, and the third not covered with any material, leaving the frame almost in its original form, and decorated with rods, wire, ribbons, a garland of lights, etc. Some screens are also covered with paper or wicker or glass - it all depends on your preferences.

Crafts made from PVC pipes: Openwork gate for a summer cottage

Click "Insert" to add the article to your website or blog. Scott Eckley, a Seattle landscape designer, designed a charming outdoor deck for a client in Puget Sound, Washington.

He used pea gravel and decorative circles filled with black glass pebbles to create a Zen-inspired patio adjacent to it. And to separate the yard from the garage, he made an openwork gate from aluminum rings. The art object itself was made in the workshop, but before placing an order, a full-size prototype was created... from scraps of PVC pipes.

Scott Ackley and his team wanted to create a gate that was both a fence and a decoration. “The owner of the house lives here alone, so security and privacy were a must,” says the designer. Thanks to the fact that the gate is transparent, this shady corner of the yard has become lighter. In addition, the owner immediately sees who came to visit him.

As a result, the design and layout costs for the gate amounted to $1,000, and the production costs amounted to $4,000.

Step 1. The designer and his team made a wooden frame to the size of the future gate and nailed it to a sheet of plywood.
Remembering the various crafts made from PVC pipes for the dacha, they decided to use “folk” ideas for the benefit of the project. Namely, we took a band saw and cut about 200 rings from PVC plastic pipes of different diameters, as in the photo.

Step 2. The frame in the shape of the future gate was filled with rings, swapping them and fixing the optimal position with clamps and weights until a dense pattern without gaps was obtained.

Step 3. The resulting model was covered with spray paint so that the outline of the pattern of rings remained on the plywood, which the metal products manufacturer had to repeat.

Advice: If you don’t just lay PVC rings, but fasten them with liquid nails, further operations can be omitted - you will get a completely decorative solution for the garden virtually “out of nothing.”

The gate will be durable provided that you achieve maximum pattern density - without gaps. Just do not remove the wooden frame, but use it as a frame for attaching the hinges of the future gate.

In the photo: if a model made of plastic plumbing pipes (PVC) is too fragile for a full-fledged gate in a summer cottage, it can be used as a decorative fence.

Step 4. The model, along with the frame, was sent to a hardware manufacturer, who cut aluminum rings to fit the plastic pipes and soldered them together, using the design on the plywood as a stencil. “Cutting and soldering aluminum rings is not an easy task,” says Scott. ─ Therefore, I recommend entrusting this stage of work to a professional craftsman.”

The photo shows what the finished gate looks like up close. In a similar way, you can make two leaves to create a gate rather than a wicket.

Crafts from plastic pipes: you can make both a frame and a house with your own hands DIY crafts from PVC pipes are a hobby that was born with the advent of plastic pipes. You can make a lot of things from ordinary PVC pipe - from wine cabinets and glass holders to original bed headboards and clothes dryers. If we talk about using leftover PVC for the garden, then vertical flower beds and various flower pots immediately come to mind. In fact, the potential benefits for the garden from such pipes are much greater - they can be used to make both an outdoor awning and a children's garden house. There is even a photo of a chicken coop made from plastic pipes made by yourself on the Internet. In the end, an extra PVC pipe will come in handy in a city apartment. Using the same technology as the gate model, you can glue together an openwork frame for a mirror or photo from plastic PVC rings.

The use of decorative partitions to delimit space and decorate the interior has been known since ancient times. Lightweight, compact and mobile screens were used many centuries ago in China, Greece, Egypt, and the Roman Empire. They were made from simple and lightweight materials and could come in different sizes and shapes. Rich owners decorated partitions with rare fabrics, inlays, precious metals and stones. We invite you to learn how to create beautiful, original screens with your own hands.

What types of screens are there?

When choosing a screen model, not only stylistic orientation is important. It is necessary to take into account the space in which the product will be located, its mobility and even its functional purpose. Therefore, let’s turn to theory and consider what types of screens there are.

  1. Casement sliding doors. They consist of several interconnected frames, from 3 to 8 or more. If necessary, they can be folded like an accordion and removed.
  2. Single-screen screens consist of one wide sash. This can be a frame made of any material with stretched fabric or paper, a sheet of plywood, chipboard, plastic or glass attached to a stand. It is advisable to equip such a screen with wheels so that you can roll it to the right place.
  3. The book screen consists of two leaves of the same width (although asymmetry is allowed). Fold it like a book and move it to where there is less space. Depending on the decoration, such a screen can be used for changing clothes and even for holiday photo shoots.
  4. Flexible screens. They are made from many long thin sections: pipes, plates, slats, connected to each other. The peculiarity of this screen is that you can arrange it in a wave, a spiral, or even roll it up and put it aside - it does not take up much space.
  5. Blind screens can consist of a different number of sashes; their distinctive feature is complete opacity. It can be a solid board (plywood, chipboard, plastic, sheet metal, frosted glass), thick fabric stretched over a frame, or cardboard inserted into the frame. Such screens are used not only for zoning rooms, but also as partitions for changing clothes.
  6. Transparent screens. Most often this is transparent fabric stretched over a frame - organza, tulle and even starched gauze; It is very convenient to use a mosquito net. Also popular are metal models made using the air forging technique, or wooden screens with openwork through carvings. Such products are decorative in nature, they are often used for wedding and holiday photo shoots or to decorate rooms and gardens.

What materials are best to make a decorative partition for a room?

Traditionally, screens were made of wood: solid boards or slats on which fabric was stretched. Nowadays, a creative approach and the use of a variety of materials are in greater demand. Let's take a closer look at them.

  1. Tree. As before, it can be a board - smooth or with a pattern carved on it, or a structure made of beams or slats. Plywood is in demand for creating screens due to its low cost, lightness and ease of processing. Designers also offer great ideas for using obsolete items. For example, you can build a screen from old doors, having previously restored the panel, giving it a fresh look. A screen made of wooden elements can be placed both in the house and in the garden.
  2. Metal. Most often, metal frames of a given shape are used, which can be ordered from a familiar welder or from a specialized enterprise. Panels made of wood, glass, plastic are inserted into these frames, or fabric is stretched. A sheet of iron will look bulky and will not add comfort to the room, but an ornament forged from twigs will greatly enliven the product. Often, metal pipes of small diameter (up to 5 cm) are used to create such a frame. This screen looks great in the garden or yard.
  3. Plastic pipes are also used to create frames and frames for screens. They are much cheaper, and most importantly - lighter than metal ones. The screen made of plastic pipes is easy to assemble and disassemble if necessary, and it is very simple to maintain: just brush off the dust from the surface in time. If necessary, you can hide under it outside on a hot sunny day.
  4. Plastic panels are a very easy-to-use material, often ready to be used to create a screen. It is enough to select several panels with the same pattern, connect them - and now you no longer need to think about fastening the fabric drapery. You can also insert the panel into a frame made of wooden slats or metal. Such screens are not afraid of the sun and rain; they can be used to decorate a garden plot.
  5. Cardboard is a cheap material that can quickly turn into an original, creative screen. Working with cardboard is very simple: just cut out the parts according to the diagram and fasten them into a single sheet. Often such screens are placed not only straight or at an angle, but also in a wave-like manner. True, they are completely unsuitable for the street: they deteriorate from moisture, wind and sun.
  6. Branches: bamboo, willow twig, reed. Screens made from these materials are very popular due to their lightness, mobility and visual simplicity. The fashion for them never goes away; they are combined with many styles in the interior: classic, tropical, eco-style, empire. True, making such a screen requires wicker weaving skills. But the finished product will look appropriate in the garden and will not be damaged by weather conditions if the material is processed correctly.
  7. CDs, vinyl records. They can be connected to each other with threads or staples to create a stylish openwork fabric. It can be hung anywhere in the room in a straight line, in the form of a wave or a semicircle. More often, screens made of records are used in the home, but even on the street this decorative element looks original.

Necessary materials and assembly diagrams

There are many ideas for making screens. We tried to select for you those that are not very difficult for beginners. The materials and tools used in the master classes are quite accessible.

Classic-shaped screen made of wooden beams and fabric

The traditional version of the screen involves fabric stretched over a wooden frame. The product can be made in the form of a book, dressing table or accordion; the shape depends on the number of frames. And the pattern on the fabric and its color determine which room your screen is suitable for.

Required tools:

  • drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • construction stapler;
  • 12 door hinges;
  • hacksaw;
  • sandpaper;
  • 96 screws.

In addition, you will need materials:

  • wooden blocks;
  • varnish and paint;
  • textile;
  • universal glue;
  • decorative elements (ribbons, beads, appliqués, etc.).

For a full-fledged screen, you need to take 24 bars 6 cm wide and 2 cm thick, of which 12 pieces. length 170 cm and 12 pcs. 60 cm long.

  1. The basis of the screen is the frame, it is not difficult to make. First of all, you need markings. Take the plank, measure 6 cm from its edge using a ruler and draw a line with a pencil. Repeat on each plank.
  2. Now use a hacksaw to make cuts along the markings. Their depth should reach half the width of the plank.
  3. Make cuts from the edges of the plank: place a chisel on the beam and, hitting it with a hammer, remove layers of wood until the cut is made.
  4. Apply universal glue to the inner surface of the notch. Assemble the planks into the frame and press tightly.
  5. Wait until the glue has completely dried, then sand the surfaces with sandpaper, especially at the joints. Coat the frames with wood varnish.
  6. For fastening you need door hinges (you can replace them with metal corners). Secure them to the frames with screws using a screwdriver.
  7. The base for the screen is ready, now you need to decorate it with fabric. It can be of any color and texture; when choosing, be guided by the main colors of the interior and your preferences. First of all, make a pattern according to the size of the frames, taking into account the hems. That is, you need to add 5 cm on each side of the frame. You can use fabric of different colors or even the remaining large pieces of different fabric, stitching them together on a sewing machine.
  8. Use a staple gun to attach the fabric to the frames. First of all, fix the upper part, then, having stretched the fabric well, secure it to the bottom bar of the frame. The tension must be very good so that the fabric does not begin to sag later. Secure the sides last.
  9. When you finish covering all the frames, start assembling the screen onto the door hinges. You will need 2 loops per connection, so that later it will be convenient to fold the product.

Portable screen made of cardboard tubes: creative, unusual, environmentally friendly

Eco-friendly interior design has not gone out of fashion for several years. Its peculiarity is the use of natural materials and ease of production. From common household items that are often thrown into the trash as unnecessary (packaging materials, wrapping materials), you can create real masterpieces with maximum imagination and minimum effort.

We suggest you make a light screen from the simplest material - cardboard tubes for winding linoleum or fabrics. In specialized stores they are thrown away as waste, so you can buy them for literally pennies. And if you're lucky, you'll get it for free.

This screen is very stable due to its wavy shape and its own weight. To make it you will need:

  • 16–20 cardboard tubes for winding fabric;
  • a skein of strong decorative rope;
  • roulette;
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • drill
  • if desired, paint a color that matches the interior.

If you are using linoleum pipes, take 8-10 of them. Since their width is more than 3 meters, you need to cut each one in half.

  1. Cut the pipes to the height you need. You can alternate different heights and widths, so the screen will look more fun. Lay out all the pipes in a row, aligning along one edge: this will become the bottom of the structure.
  2. Measure 20 cm from the bottom edge and make a mark on each pipe at this level (point A). Measure a section 1 m long upwards, mark again (point B). Mark point C strictly in the center of the segment. Repeat with all the pipes.
  3. Using a drill at low speed, drill holes all the way through at the marked points.
  4. First, at points A, then B and C, thread a decorative rope through the holes.
  5. Push the pipes together tightly and tie strong knots of rope on the sides of the screen.

That's all, the screen is ready. Outwardly, it resembles bamboo or reed.

If desired, such a screen can be moved to any point in the apartment to block the bed, workplace, or simply delimit space.

Modular partition made of cardboard

Even such a simple and unpresentable material as cardboard boxes will serve us excellently. And if you can get sheets of cardboard, that’s great! To make your own cardboard screen, prepare the following materials:

  • sheets of cardboard 4 mm and 7 mm wide;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • scissors or stationery knife.

To create modules, use the diagrams below.

  1. You can redraw these diagrams by eye or print them on a printer, maintaining the proportions. The size of each side is indicated in centimeters. You will get 5 parts, on the diagrams they are designated by the letters A, B, C, D, E.
  2. Cut out the diagrams. Attach each part to a sheet of cardboard and carefully trace it with a pencil, taking into account all the slots. As a test, connect two pieces of cardboard to determine the width of the slot.
  3. Cut out parts A-D from thinner cardboard, and parts E from thicker cardboard: they will serve as the legs of the screen. As a result, you will have 16 A parts, 80 B parts, 70 C parts, 64 D parts and 5 E parts.
  4. Once you have cut out all the parts, start assembling the individual modules. Parts C and D will become connectors for A and B, which are larger in size.
  5. Using connectors C, fasten the screen modules.
  6. Attach parts E, which serve as legs for support, to the bottom of the screen.
  7. The size of such a screen can be adjusted, making it higher or lower, forming a cascade or ladder.

A simple cardboard partition: an option for beginners

If the process of creating a screen from complex multi-part modules seems complicated to you, use a simpler option. You will need:

  • sheets of cardboard;
  • pencil;
  • scissors.

You can take cardboard of one color, or “play” with gradation of shades.

  1. Redraw the outline of the part from the picture onto thick cardboard. You can choose the required dimensions yourself, depending on your own preferences or the parameters of the room where the screen will be located. You will need a lot of such parts, but there should be a pair of them. Carefully cut with scissors, taking into account all the grooves.
  2. Prepare the modules by connecting 2 parts perpendicular to each other in the central grooves.
  3. Line up the finished modules, securing them to the side grooves; build the second row in the same way and so on. You will get a light and original screen of the required size and shape.

Using the same pattern, you can create a screen from cardboard butterflies. Cut out parts for the modules in the shape of insects. Use different colors to make the screen brighter and complement any interior.

In the same way, connect 2 parts to each other, and then add the modules to the screen size you need.

Mobile screen made of metal or plastic pipes

A screen-partition made of metal pipes helps to zone a room or provide shelter from the sun's rays on a hot summer day. And the peculiarity of this design is that it moves easily on wheels.

To make such a screen you will need:

  • 3 metal pipes for the frame;
  • 1 metal pipe to weight the base;
  • 4 furniture wheels;
  • 2 corners for connecting pipes in the upper part;
  • a board that will serve as the base of the screen;
  • 2 flanges securing the pipes to the board;
  • self-tapping screws and nuts-washers;
  • screwdriver;
  • brush and paints.

Metal pipes can be replaced with PVC pipes of similar length and thickness. But to make the base heavier, you will still have to take an iron pipe or other heavy load.

  1. Draw markings on the board, indicating the attachment points for furniture wheels.
  2. Secure the wheels with self-tapping screws to the board using a screwdriver.
  3. Now you need to fix the weighting material on the underside of the base of the screen. Screw the load with self-tapping screws using holders. This is necessary to ensure that the screen does not fall during operation. Unfortunately, the higher such a structure, the less stable it is, so weighting is indispensable.
  4. Attach the flanges to the top side of the base board and insert the pipes into them.
  5. Connect two vertical pipes on top of one horizontal one, inserting their ends into the connecting elbows. When finished, paint the structure.
  6. Now it's time to show your imagination. If you plan to use the screen exclusively as a partition, hang thick fabric over the frame. Even an old curtain can serve as it; the main thing is that the size of the fabric matches the width of the frame, and the color and pattern match the main notes of the interior.

And such a screen on wheels can be temporarily used as a mobile wardrobe. Place it in the bedroom and hang clothes on hangers.

Opaque sliding structure made of wood

If you need a dense screen that can even muffle sounds, then you need something more serious than a piece of fabric attached to a frame. Use wood.

The wooden structure will serve you not only as a partition. Thanks to the thick lining, you can attach family photos, children's drawings and crafts to the screen.

The body for the screen can be thin wide boards made of any available wood. The easiest way would be to use MDF panels.

You will need:

  • 3 thin boards 45 cm wide and 180 cm long;
  • 3 pieces of padding polyester 50 X 200 cm;
  • 3 pieces of thick fabric 50 X 200 cm;
  • primer or sealant;
  • construction gun;
  • acrylic paint;
  • screwdriver;
  • scissors;
  • upholstery tape;
  • hinges for doors;
  • decorative construction nails.

If you have the opportunity to find boards that are wider, use them. Just don’t forget that the padding polyester and fabric need to be adjusted to size.

  1. First, prepare boards or MDF panels. Cover one surface with primer - this will be the back. Once the primer has dried, open up that side of the panel with acrylic paint.
  2. From the padding polyester, cut a strip slightly wider than the panel, taking into account the allowance. Place the material on the board and secure it with a construction gun. Cut off the excess padding on the sides using scissors.
  3. Now it's the turn of the fabric. The cut should be the same size as the padding polyester. Place the fabric on the panel, stretch it well, fold the edges and secure it with a construction gun over the padding polyester layer.
  4. Using glue, secure the upholstery tape along the edges of the panel. Additionally, secure with decorative nails, driving them in at a distance of 5 cm from each other. Repeat these steps on all panels.
  5. Now is the time to connect the structure. Place the two panels face down; make sure the bottom edges are level. Place furniture hinges at a distance of 10 cm from the bottom and top edges and secure them with a screwdriver. Fix the third panel in the same way.

If you wish, you can additionally decorate the finished screen with a pattern of decorative nails, giving the surface volume and texture.

Screens for creating spectacular photos

If you are a professional photographer, then you probably know how important it is to have beautiful, spectacular screens for thematic photo shoots. Most often, such orders are made for weddings, but other celebrations are also in demand. Therefore, a newcomer to the photography business needs to consider all possibilities just in case. We will help you create beautiful, light and airy screens for different photo shoots.

Painted screen for wedding photo sessions

The master class on making a wedding screen is based on the same principles by which similar products are made from a wooden frame and fabric. True, it will be a little more difficult: you will have to use your skills in painting.

To make a screen for photo shoots, you will need:

  • mosquito net;
  • wooden blocks;
  • corner brackets;
  • long screws 5.7 cm;
  • short screws 1.27 cm;
  • loops;
  • scissors;
  • acrylic paint (white);
  • glitter;
  • stapler;
  • drill for tightening screws;
  • water-based protective coating;
  • brush;
  • white paint for wooden surfaces.

First you need to decide how big the screen will be. This depends on the size of the room in which the photo sessions are held, the number of participants, and additional decorative items. Having determined the height and width of the future product, you can easily calculate the amount of materials needed. As an example, you can use the dimensions presented in the previous options for making screens.

Manufacturing and assembly instructions.

  1. Cut the bars to the specified sizes and assemble them into a frame. Connect the elements with self-tapping screws and corner brackets. To do this, it is easier to use a screwdriver or a drill with a screwdriver attachment.
  2. If you decide to paint the frame white, do it immediately after assembly. You can do without this, leaving the wood its natural color, but then it is advisable to open the surface with varnish.
  3. Now you need to secure the mosquito net. Cut it into pieces according to the size of the frame, leaving small allowances. Lay the mesh on the back surface of the future screen and attach it with a construction stapler.
  4. Cut off the excess mesh with scissors.
  5. Using a brush, spread the water-based coating onto the mesh. This will help the paint adhere better when you apply the design. Wait for the mesh to dry.
  6. The time has come for creative work: applying a pattern. You can choose any floral and fantasy motifs. Apply acrylic paint in light strokes, using the same brush as for the protective coating. To create shadows, you can add a little gray or black paint.
  7. To give your photo screen some festive brightness, coat some areas on the surface with PVA glue and sprinkle with glitter. Let the product dry thoroughly.
  8. All that remains is to connect all three frames with door hinges - and the screen for ceremonial photo sessions is ready!

Screen for creating photos with fabric drapery

A simple master class from the famous Moscow decorator Elena Teplitskaya will help you make a cute, funny and original screen, which will certainly be useful for photo shoots.

Materials and tools you will need:

  • frame made of metal rods;
  • pieces of well-draped fabric, such as organza;
  • threads and needles;
  • decorative cord;
  • markers for textiles.

To decorate the screen, you can use thread balls, decorative braid, ribbon or bows - whatever your imagination suggests.

  1. Cut the fabric to the size of the screen. The width should match, and the length of the cut should be 20 cm greater than the height in order to subsequently make a hem. Organza or other light translucent fabric can be pre-treated with a solution containing starch - this will make it rigid and pliable. Form pleats by squeezing the cuts vertically until the fabric resembles crepe paper.
  2. Place the fabric on top of the frame, securing it with pins. Do not pull it horizontally: it should lie in folds. Now use neat stitches to sew around the pinned areas.
  3. Using a special marker for working on fabric, apply some simple design to the drapery. This stage is a great way to realize your artistic talent.
  4. The applied drawing must be dried with a hairdryer. If you are working with a special embossing hair dryer, follow safety precautions and do not bring the tool too close to the fabric: it may catch fire. Turn on a regular hair dryer at maximum speed two.
  5. Paint the visible metal parts of the frame with a marker to match the color of the fabric and the pattern on it. Decorate the top of the screen: string thread balls, bows or other elements of your choice onto a decorative cord, and staple or sew them onto the fabric.

DIY room partition - video

Share with your friends!

Decorative partitions (screens) have been used since ancient times. But to enjoy such a product, you don’t have to buy it ready-made. You just need to know how to do everything correctly and quickly.

Types of structures

It's appropriate to start a conversation with traditional Japanese screen. This style is suitable for any home designed in the appropriate spirit. Byobu (this is what they call their classic partition in Japan) is often decorated with paintings on both sides. The image is designed in such a way that it is comfortable to study while sitting on the floor. This design is great for limiting a secluded space.

It is more difficult to imitate Indian screens. They use precious teak wood and other elite tree species.

Later in Europe, partitions were changed according to the dominant style. This is how performances in the spirit appeared:

  • classicism;
  • baroque;
  • modern;
  • Provence;
  • hi-tech.

People often use folding (or rather, sliding folding) screens. They are formed by several connected frames, usually 3-8 of them. Sometimes there are more frames. This design folds like an accordion and is removed as needed. Single-screen screens (which have only one wide flap) are also quite widely used.

The material inside the sash is selected at your discretion. Most often, the product is equipped with wheels, making it easier to roll to the right place. A “book” type structure is formed by a pair of identically sized sashes. But some modifications may be slightly asymmetrical.

The “book” is useful for changing clothes and for formal or home photo shoots.

Flexible screens deserve attention. For them, a lot of long, but differing in small thickness, sections are made. Such sections are created from slats, pipes, and plates. It will be possible to deliver the finished product in the manner of a spiral or even a roll. This, of course, also makes storage and transportation easier.

A blind screen is made from a different number of sashes. But in any case they are completely opaque. This is very convenient for all sorts of delicate matters, for example, changing clothes. However, as a partition in a room, a blank screen turns out to be very good.

There are also transparent versions– they are used mainly for decoration and in amateur (and professional too) photography.

What materials can it be made from?

A real classic is the wooden screen. Now it is no longer possible to establish what the very first structure of this kind in history was made of. But there is no doubt that wood is traditional and has been used since ancient times. Along with monolithic boards, partitions in the past were also made from slats. In the second case, fabric of various types was pulled over them - whatever was at hand and whatever they liked.

Today, wooden screens are still in demand, and their main types are still the same. But, along with simple slats, timber is used quite often. Plywood structures have also gained considerable popularity because they:

  • allows you to save money;
  • weighs relatively little;
  • processed without any problems.

Design developments do not stand still. AND Recently, screens made from louvered doors have become increasingly common(and just from unnecessary wooden doors). They usually still contain fairly good quality wood, but the structure itself becomes morally or technically obsolete.

Screens with a wooden base are installed both in houses and on the street. In addition to the frames themselves, various types of decorative panels are used that significantly improve the appearance.

But some home craftsmen try to use metal (usually stainless steel or aluminum). In this case, you will need a frame of a certain shape. Any experienced welder can make it, although sometimes it is better to contact a metalworking company. The following is inserted inside the frame:

  • wooden panels;
  • sheet glass;
  • plastic.

Important: you should avoid using sheet iron, which looks bulky and deprives the room of comfort. It is much better to use a complex ornament made of forged rods.

Instead, small pipes (up to 5 cm in diameter) are also suitable. Tubular screens are widely used in gardens and courtyards. Regardless of the shape of the frame, it should be covered with elegant fabric or paper with an original image.

Important: paper is used only when the screen is placed indoors or at least under a canopy. In any open place the first rain will destroy it.

If you choose a high-tech style, then it is logical to use a steel screen for blinds to frame it with your own hands. But those who want to simplify their work as much as possible should abandon metal and focus on PVC. Pipes made of this material are quite light and, in addition, practical.

You can also use it in your work:

  • cardboard;
  • polymer panels;
  • cane;
  • willow or bamboo branches;
  • CDs or vinyl records.

Required Tools

Most often it is enough for work such a set of tools:

  • drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • special stapler;
  • roulette;
  • marker;
  • wood saw;
  • metal saw;
  • sandpaper of any grade;
  • paints (varnishes) and brushes for applying them.

Manufacturing instructions

Let's consider options for making screens from various materials.

Made of wood

Making a wooden screen for your dacha yourself is quite simple. The classic version of this product is assembled from fabric and a wooden base. The material is simply pulled onto the frame. By varying the specific design and color of the canvas, it is easy to adapt a “homemade” product for any room. To work with timber, along with the tools listed above, you will need another dozen door hinges, 96 screws, durable and beautiful material, universal glue, and decor of your choice.

You can make a full-size screen using 24 bars, 6 cm wide and 2 cm thick. Half of the bars should have a length of 1.7 m, and the other half should have a length of 0.6 m. Lines are drawn on the planks 6 cm from the edge and the excess is sawed off exactly along the marks.

Important: the cuts should reach exactly half the width of the planks - no less and no more.

The next step in making a homemade room screen is to make notches along the edges of the slats using a chisel. The wood is removed layer by layer, right down to the cuts. The inside of the grooves is covered with glue. After assembling them into a single frame, the entire workpiece is pressed tightly. Only after the glue has completely set can you continue working.

When sanding wood with emery, pay special attention to all joints. Next, use varnish. Please note: regardless of the number of leaves, ordinary steel corners can be used instead of door hinges. The fasteners are fixed with a screwdriver. After this, all that remains is to decorate the screen with fabric, choosing it at your discretion.

Be sure to make a pattern; in addition to the dimensions of the frames, they also take into account kinks and difficult places. The use of multi-colored and heterogeneous fabrics is allowed. To avoid sewing it with your own hands and a needle, it is better to use a sewing machine. It will also help stitch the edges. Attaching the material to the frames is done with a construction stapler from top to bottom; At the same time, they carefully ensure that everything is tensioned perfectly.

The sidewalls are worked on after attaching the fabric at the top and bottom. When this is ready, two loops or corners for each connection are connected to the parts of the screen. This is the amount of fasteners that is considered optimal for the convenience of folding the partition.

Attention: when choosing fabric, take into account the style of the room. The wood should be selected as carefully as possible so that there are no even small defects.

From cardboard

But if you need to make a screen for the bedroom yourself, then it is better to use cardboard. A mobile modular partition will not externally overload the space. It is enough to cut out any parts you like according to the diagram and fasten them into a single fabric. If necessary, such a screen can be easily modified at your own discretion.

Parts can be fastened not only straight or at an angle, but also in a wave-like manner. The only negative: they are completely unsuitable for the street; they can deteriorate from moisture, wind and sun.

For a serious screen over a large area (in the office or in all rooms of the house at once), binder cardboard and corrugated cardboard are used. The color of the source material does not matter. High-density cardboard is used for the supporting part.

Another option is to use a box from a TV, refrigerator or washing machine. Then the sides are cut off and the place where the first and fourth edges meet is removed. The second of the three seams of the rectangle is bent in the opposite direction to ensure the rigidity of the screen when unfolded.

From plastic pipes

Creating a screen from PVC and polypropylene pipes does not have any significant differences. These can be any pipes - heating, water supply, sewer - as long as they are durable. Such products are suitable for mobile and fixed, transparent and opaque partitions. The transparent option involves fastening the pipes together and stretching a light material over them. Sometimes they even use starched gauze.

Pipes can be connected using flanges, that is, fittings. Before starting work, the edges must be cleaned. Having placed the fittings on the cuts, put on a gasket with a rubber layer inside, and the flanges are already pulled onto this gasket. Sometimes counter bolts and counter flanges are used.

Important: All fasteners must be tightened uniformly, otherwise the fittings will not line up. If necessary, the structure can be easily disassembled. But when assembled, it is extremely stable.

An alternative is to glue the pipes together. All connected elements are freed from chamfers and then covered with special marks. From the markings it is easy to understand to what depth to screw the flange. Of course, 100% of the parts are degreased. Glue is applied to a clean surface from the inside of the socket, to the chamfers and pipes. Then the pipes are inserted into sockets or fittings, turned ¼ turn and clamped for 60 seconds.

Attention: all these manipulations must be performed as quickly and carefully as possible; any excess glue is removed immediately. The glue will dry in a few hours. Despite the labor intensity, this method of creating a frame is slightly more reliable than the previous method.

There is another option - using a rubber seal. It is available at the end of any socket. The rubber seal allows you to connect pipes quickly, easily and completely airtight.

Surfaces need to be cleaned as best as possible. On a smooth area, get rid of the chamfer. Then they make a mark showing how deep the pipe will go into the socket. All smooth areas are coated with silicone. Next, the structure is assembled. Despite the simplicity and ease of dismantling, such a product will not be particularly durable.

If the screen is made with wheels, they are attached to self-tapping screws. It is advisable to use a weighting agent that is placed at the bottom of the base. It must be secured with screws and holders. Flanges for inserting pipes are placed on top. Above the horizontal pipe there are several more vertical elements; Once assembly is complete, the structure is often painted.

An interesting option is plastic screens made from pipes cut into rings.

Important: whenever possible, it is better to cut pipes to size using special machines. The width of the plastic screens is approximately 5 cm. If it should be smaller for some reason, you will need to work with a handy tool. It is recommended to mark the surface every 5 cm. The workpieces are clamped in a vice and cut with a handsaw.

Important: the paper is removed immediately, otherwise it will be impossible to remove it. The rings are connected with glue; Before this, the blanks are laid out on the floor so that you can clearly see what is connected to what and in what order.

The rings must be placed from larger to smaller; The pattern is selected to your liking. The edges are usually straightened, but they can also be curved. Of course, all this is thought out in advance. In addition to their structural role, rings are suitable for storing small items. The screen itself is made both mobile and fixed to the wall.

An alternative version of the plastic screen consists of the following parts:

  • set of wheels for furniture;
  • steel pipe as a weighting material;
  • pipes to the frame;
  • paints and brushes;
  • fasteners;
  • flanges;
  • board.

The frame is assembled in the same way as in other options. Attention must be paid to choosing a good paint. Before applying it, all surfaces are degreased and cleaned. All metal parts are coated with anti-corrosion protection. The finished structure is easy to repaint.
