Make a stork out of iron with your own hands. Garden crafts from plastic bottles: do-it-yourself stork

Have you thought, dear readers, that it can be used as ... a material for the manufacture of art objects. Although it may not be art, as such, in its literal sense, but a decoration for the garden - a small sculpture, it is quite possible to do. Indeed, polyurethane foam is unusually plastic, quickly hardens and is easily processed - why not a material for creativity?

Today I will tell you how to make a sculpture of a stork out of polyurethane foam to decorate your garden or summer cottage. There are very few materials needed, and they are very cheap. If you pay attention to how much garden sculptures cost in hardware stores, you will realize that the price of a pair of foam cans is incommensurate with their cost. In addition, the stork will work out much better for us. So let's get started.

stork frame

To begin with, we will select a suitable body for the stork - a frame on which foam will be sprayed. A plastic canister from under water with a capacity of 5 liters will do just fine. We make the neck of the stork from wire, and to add volume, you can wrap strips of foam plastic on the wire. The legs of the stork can also be made from wire, and the nose and head can be cut out either from foam or from wood - whichever is more convenient and preferable.

Sculpture making

After making a simple frame, we start spraying foam on our sculpture - we do it carefully, presenting the contours of the finished stork. To make it easier, print out a large bird. If the foam does not fall as you intended, no problem - after drying, the excess is easily removed with a knife. By the way, if you wish, you can use real bird feathers for the tail - who knows, maybe you can do it instead of a peacock stork. After the foam has dried and finished with a knife, we paint the sculpture with ordinary acrylic paint, fix it in place in the garden, and invite friends to appreciate your creative genius. Good luck!

We all know the song from childhood "Stork on the Roof - Peace on Earth" for a long time. And Alena Zinovieva, already familiar to us from the village of Chastaya Oakwood, decided to plant a couple of white storks in love in her garden, which symbolize peace in her friendly family. These beautiful birds are also made from waste material: plastic foam, metal mesh, plastic bottles and plastic cans.

For the manufacture of storks we need:

1. Two canisters of 5 liters
2. Metal mesh for wings
3. Strong wire
4. Plastic tubes for legs and neck
5. Styrofoam for the head
6. White milk bottles
7. Dark beer 1.5l
8. Hose from a vacuum cleaner (can be replaced with a corrugation)

1. For the head I use construction foam 10 cm wide

2. I cut out the workpiece, highlight the eye sockets, make a flat beak.

3. I grind to smoothness with sandpaper, insert eyes (or beads)

4. I glue the eyelids, strengthen the beak with a part from a plastic bottle, gluing it to the “Titan”. At the second stork, I make the beak open.

5. For the body I take 5 liters. canister.

6. I cut off the handle.

7. I bend the mesh in the shape of a canister - this STORK will have wings folded.

8. I round off the "wings".

9. I bend the wire for the legs.

10. A liter milk bottle is cut into 6 feathers.

11. I cut feathers.

12. I start to fasten the feathers from the lower part of the body.

13. I strengthen the wire for the neck and put a hose on it.

14. I fasten a number of feathers to the hose with self-tapping screws.

15. Side view.

16. I cut the halves of milk bottles with a fringe and fasten them around the neck with adhesive tape.

17. I start with the flight feathers on the edge of the wing.

18. The second row overlaps the first by one third.

19. The third and subsequent rows of white bottles.

20. Paws from 0.5 l bottles.

21. Making the body for the second stork.

22. As with the first one, I cut off a part of the canister from above - it is necessary for screwing the feathers.

23. I cover the body with feathers, but, unlike the first, I fasten the feathers to the entire canister.

24. This stork's wings are slightly open. The first row of feathers from 1.5 l bottles (6 pcs from one)

25. I screw the second row only on the rounding of the wing.

26. The third is for the whole wing.

27. I make the tail - it is short, the feathers are slightly parted.

28. Turn the wings over to screw the feathers onto the underside.

29. The last row, covering the edge of the wing, is made from feathers bent in half, rounded on both sides.

30. Approximately so it looks.

31. Each of the subsequent feathers closes the junction of the previous one.

And we will soon meet again with Alena and her new works.

First, decide where you will place the stork figure, because it depends on what base the craft will have. Traditionally, such figures are mounted on trees, building a nest of branches under them. But you can place a stork on the roof of the house or in a flower bed on the ground.

We decided to make a whole composition, which will include not one, but two figures of a stork, if you repeat everything exactly after us, you will get the same thing.

Prepare the following materials ahead of time

Plastic bottles.
- Wide board.
-Metal rod or thick enough wire.
- A sheet of foam plastic with a thickness of at least 10 centimeters.
- Corrugated hose, can be used, left, for example, from an old vacuum cleaner.
- Plastic canisters with a volume of at least 5 liters.
-Metal mesh, from which we will make wings for the bird.
-Stapler.

How to make a stork figure

Despite the fact that the figure turns out to be spectacular, it will take only a few hours to create it.

First of all, with a sharp knife, cut out the bird's head from the foam plastic with a base under the beak. Immediately make eyes, you can draw them, or glue black beads instead.

Cut out a beak from a bottle of a suitable color. Ours consists of two parts. Do everything exactly as in the photo. The finished beak is glued to the head.

Now let's create the bird's body. For this purpose, we have prepared a canister, from which we will immediately cut off the handle so that the shape is close to the real body of the stork. We attach a mesh to the body, bent in the shape of a canister. We cut off the excess parts immediately.

We make the legs from a rod, and we prepared the board as the base of the figure. Attach the rod to the board as shown in the photo.

Now let's move on to the most interesting: we will decorate the figure with plastic spoons. Start with the tail, gradually moving further along the body.

The head and body are connected with a wire, and to make the neck look natural, we put a corrugated hose on the wire. From plastic bottles, we make slips so that they look like feathers.

Also, the carved elements of the bottles go to the feathers of the wings. Lay so that each next row partially overlaps the previous one. You can fasten the plastic together with a stapler.

At the last stage, we connect all the details together. It turned out the figure of a bird, but to give it the greatest realism, it should be correctly painted. Pay attention to what details of the figure are painted.

Having the skill of making a stork figure, you can make other bird figures: plastic bottles and spoons make an excellent imitation of plumage.

A well-groomed and attractive garden will always please the eye. To make your garden more comfortable, you can decorate it with various hand-made ones. Today we'll talk about how to make a stork for the garden and what materials can be used for this.

Let's start with the simplest - PET bottles.

Option number 1. Making a stork from plastic bottles

Before you get started, you need to take a small sheet of plywood and make templates out of it. The templates must be made in the form of the body and wings of a bird, as shown in the image. You will also need opaque plastic bottles (preferably white or black), red tape and self-tapping screws. The procedure is as follows.

Step 1. First you need to connect the previously made templates with self-tapping screws. Plastic milk bottles will be used as feathers. The bottles should be cut into strips of the same width, and then make a fringe on the edges of each of them.

Step 2 Next, the finished feathers must be fixed on the "body" of the stork with a glue gun. It is characteristic that PET bottles of already black color will be used for the lower part of the body and tail (usually shampoo containers are used for this).

Step 3 The beak should be wrapped with red tape.

Step 4 For the manufacture of legs, ordinary wire is used. Eyes for a bird are bought at any needlework store. That's it, the stork is ready with your own hands!

Option number 2. Making a stork from polyurethane foam

Now let's talk about another option for making a stork for the garden with your own hands. Now you need to pre-prepare a 5 liter plastic container, mounting foam, polystyrene and adhesive tape. The algorithm of actions should be as follows.

Step 1. First, body parts are attached to the bottle using a container. For the neck, an ordinary wire is used, overlaid with pieces of foam. The hips must be made in a similar way (using foam and wire). An ordinary large-diameter nail is quite suitable as a key.

Step 2 The blank will look at the preliminary stage as shown in the image below.

Step 3 For the legs of the bird (at least in this implementation), used electrodes are used. In the absence of electrodes, you can select a similar material - for example, a thick wire twisted into several turns, or metal rods from thin reinforcement.

Step 4 So, all parts of the "body" of the stork are assembled, but before proceeding to the next step, it is necessary to carefully check the strength and reliability of the fasteners.

Step 5 After that, the entire layout must be covered with mounting foam.

Step 6 All excess is neatly trimmed.

Step 7 Now the sculpture is almost ready. If the mounting foam is already completely dry, then the bird needs to be painted with acrylic paint.

Step 9 Natural feathers are inserted into the wings and tail to make the stork look as realistic as possible. See what a wonderful garden stork you will get (if you do everything right, of course).

Option number 3. Making a stork for a garden from a canister

Before you get started, make sure you have the following consumables:

five liter cans

plastic bottles (black and white);

· plastic tubes;

· thick wire;

foam plastic;

After that, you need to perform the following sequence of actions.

Step 1. Cut out blanks from foam, use a knife to outline the head. Cut out the eye sockets, make the beak flatter.

Step 2 Use sandpaper to make the surface as smooth as possible. Place toy eyes in the eye sockets (we have already talked about where you can get them).

Step 3 Cut a beak out of a plastic bottle and secure it with glue.

Step 4 From a plastic canister, make the body of a bird, cut off the handle.

Step 5 Cut out a piece of mesh large enough to wrap around the canister. Round the mesh a little so that it looks more like wings.

Step 6 A thick metal rod must be bent and legs made from it.

Step 7 Stork feathers are cut from white bottles.

Step 8 After that, you can proceed directly to the assembly of all elements. Work should start from the "tail".

Step 9 For the “neck”, a corrugation is put on the wire (for example, from a vacuum cleaner) or something similar. Feathers are attached with self-tapping screws. Due to the fact that the wings of our bird are folded, feathers can only be fixed on the stomach and a little on the sides.

Step 10 White bottles are cut in half, fringe is formed at the cuts. Bottles are attached to the "neck" with adhesive tape.

Step 11"Wings" must be done from one edge of the prepared mesh. It is important that the second row covers the first by 1/3. On the third row, white plastic is already used.

Step 12 For the "legs" of the stork, the corresponding blanks are cut from 0.5-liter bottles.

Step 13 It remains only to paint the "beak" and "paws" of the bird in red. That's it, the garden stork is ready with your own hands!

Video - DIY Stork

A well-groomed and ennobled cottage contributes to the creation of an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. A do-it-yourself stork for the garden is a great addition to flower beds, flower beds and lawns. This bird is a symbol of happiness, prosperity and prosperity. Garden sculpture of a stork looks good anywhere. You can install it on the ground, roof, pole or tree. To give the product realism, a technique such as building an artificial nest is used.

Figurines of storks for giving bring happiness and benefits, they are also a good decoration for lawns and flower beds.

Sculpture from plastic bottles and plywood

To work, you need several plastic bottles in black and white. The basis of the structure will be a sheet of waterproof plywood.

To work, you will need the following tools and devices:

  • jigsaw;
  • scissors;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • pliers;
  • a hammer;
  • steel staples;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • glue gun;
  • red nail polish;
  • thick wire.

The stork can be made from plywood and plastic white milk bottles that are cut into fringes for plumage.

After the tools and materials are prepared, work can begin.

It is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. A paper template of the body and wings of the bird is made. The size of the statue is chosen based on the size of the site and the tastes of its owners.
  2. The plywood is marked. Cutting out blanks.
  3. The edges of the blanks are polished. Plywood is primed.
  4. The wings are attached to the body of the stork with the help of self-tapping screws. As a rule, wings are made in the folded position.
  5. The legs are being made. For this, a steel bar with a diameter of 6-10 mm is suitable. With the help of staples, steel parts are nailed to plywood. The lower edge of the rod can be sharpened for the convenience of fixing the product in the ground or nest.
  6. The bottom of white milk bottles is cut off. What is left is cut into 2 parts vertically. Stripes are cut with scissors. They will imitate feathers.
  7. Similarly, a plastic fringe is prepared from black bottles.
  8. The cut fragments are attached to the plywood base. This is done from the tail. Black stripes are attached first. They get off the lower part of the body, tail and wings.
  9. The rest of the bird is trimmed with white plastic stripes.
  10. The beak is covered with red nail polish.
  11. The eyes are drawn with black paint. You can use large buttons or eyes from one of the old toys.

The stork figure is ready. It can be easily attached to any surface. With the onset of inclement weather, it is better to remove the product and store it in a warm room until spring.

Making a stork from foam

As a rule, after carrying out external wall insulation, quite a lot of foam plastic scraps remain. They do not need to be disposed of. Many interesting and beautiful crafts can be made from this material. Polyfoam is light and easy to handle. You can make a stork out of foam plastic quickly, without the use of complex tools.

To work, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • glue;
  • sharp knife;
  • steel bar;
  • saw on wood;
  • pliers;
  • sandpaper;
  • black paint;
  • paint brush.

Making a sculpture of a stork for the garden is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. Wire blanks are made to imitate the legs of a bird. Their lower ends are sharpened. The upper ends of the rod are bent at a right angle for fixing in foam.
  2. The contours of the body parts of the bird are applied to the foam. The largest fragment should be the central part of the torso. The remaining fragments will be needed to give the figure volume, create wings, neck and head.
  3. The pieces are cut out. This is best done with a saw.
  4. Steel bars are fixed to the central part of the body. In order for subsequent fragments to lie tightly on the base, grooves for the rod are made in it. To avoid lateral vibrations, the rod is fixed to the base with additional brackets.
  5. Styrofoam strips are glued to the central part of the body, giving volume. Wings are glued on top of them.
  6. The neck and head of the sculpture are mounted on the pin.
  7. With the help of a knife and sandpaper, the stork figure is given its final shape. Additional finishing is not needed, since a relief imitation of feathers can be created on the foam.
  8. The tail and wings of the bird are painted with black paint. The beak can be wrapped with red tape or painted.

The final stage of needlework are the eyes. They are made from steel bearings or glass balls.

Using mounting foam

An unused foam can can be successfully used to make a three-dimensional stork figure. With the help of foam, you can quickly make a three-dimensional blank, from which you can cut out the desired shape.

For work you will need:

  • plastic bottle with a capacity of 5 l;
  • scotch;
  • Styrofoam;
  • steel bar;
  • primer;
  • paint brush;
  • acrylic paints;
  • sharp knife;
  • rasp.

There is a similar set in the closet of every house. Additional costs will not be required.

A garden decoration is made in the form of a sculpture of a stork in the following sequence:

  1. The steel frame is assembled. For strength, it can be fixed by welding.
  2. A plastic bottle is put on the frame.
  3. Styrofoam strips are taped to the neck wire. You can pre-grind them in shape and glue them.
  4. On the pins intended for the legs, the femoral parts, machined from foam, are placed.
  5. The finished frame is wetted with water. Foam is applied. It covers the entire surface of the workpiece, except for the wire imitating legs.
  6. After the foam hardens, all excess is cut off. Relief is given with a knife and a rasp. After finishing, the sculpture is cleaned of sawdust and dust.
  7. The dried product is covered with a primer. Next, the bird needs to be painted with acrylic paints. Lacquer is applied over the paint.

To give the sculpture realism, you can use natural black and white feathers that are inserted into the tips of the wings and tail.

For reliability, they need to be planted on polyurethane glue.

The finished figure can be installed in the garden for a long time. The stork, decorated with acrylic paints, perfectly tolerates exposure to ultraviolet, cold and moisture.
