DIY cutlery stand

You can add coziness and personality to your kitchen with the help of unusual decor. A cutlery stand is a necessary thing for every housewife, and designer Anastasia Kasparyan will tell you how to use it to diversify the interior.

For this we will need wooden mugs, a regular cutting board, acrylic paint in two shades, a brush, sponge and glue.

First you need to paint the mugs and board. For tinting, choose the paint shade that you like best or the one that matches your kitchen.

Now let's do the decor. Using a stencil and a sponge, apply the pattern with gold paint. To prevent the paint from leaking, you need to paint with the very tip of the sponge.

After this we decorate the edging on the mugs. Using a dry brush, take a little paint and lightly paint the protrusions on the circles and the end of the board.

To secure the mugs to the board, you need to coat the edges well with glue and firmly align them with the board.

By the way, you can use any mugs - metal, tin or wood, as they are now. The result is a stylish piece of furniture that will find use in every housewife.

In every home you can find a lot of cutlery that is not used for its intended purpose. There can be many reasons - part of the set was lost, a new one was bought, or the devices simply weren’t liked.
It’s a bit of a shame to throw away metal spoons, forks and knives that are time-proof. But it is not at all necessary to get rid of them. We share spectacular ideas for unusual uses of cutlery.

Tulips

In order to make a charming bouquet of tulips, we will need:

  • spoons (5 pieces for each flower);
  • colored corrugated paper;
  • glue with a brush;
  • scissors;
  • green electrical tape.

Cut squares of red paper. We wrap spoons in each square and seal it.

Then we collect the tulip. To do this, we fasten 2 spoons, add 3 more to them and fix the resulting flower with electrical tape. We cut out the leaves from green paper, attach them to the stem and tie them with ribbon.

We make a bouquet and put it in a beautiful vase.

Water lily

To create a plastic water lily you need to prepare:

  • spoons of different sizes,
  • glue gun;
  • regular glue;
  • paints;
  • scissors;
  • green plastic bottle.

After cutting off the handles of the spoons, attach the future petals with a glue gun. You should now have an inner layer of petals.

Make the outer layer of the flower in the same way. Cut a strip measuring 12x3 cm from the bottle and make a fringe along one of its edges. Roll the strip and secure it with glue.

Paint the fringe yellow and let it dry.

Make leaves from the bottle as shown in the photo.

Attach the dried strip to the inside of the petals - this will be the center of the flower. The magnificent snow-white water lily is ready!

Garland of flowers

A bright flower garland will look very impressive, for the manufacture of which you will need:

  • 18 multi-colored spoons;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • thick thread;
  • dye;
  • pom-poms;
  • thick cardboard.

Cut out 3 triangles of the same size from cardboard and color them.

Note!

Cut off the handles of the spoons. Mark the middle in the triangles and stick petals around it (6 pieces per flower). Place a pompom in the center of each flower.

Make 2 holes in each triangle and thread a thread through them, thus connecting the flowers into a garland.

Flower vase

Making a cute flower vase will require you to have:

  • spoon;
  • tin cans;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • paints.

Paint the jar your favorite color. Cut off the handles from the spoons. Paint the rounded parts of the spoons in the desired colors.

Glue the spoons to the jar, placing them in even rows.

Note!

ladybugs

You can make a cute ladybug from spoons using:

  • spoon;
  • glue;
  • large voluminous button;
  • paints;
  • scissors

After cutting off the handles of the spoons, paint the oval part of each of them. Glue the wings together. Attach a button head on top.

Candlestick

To create a sterile original candlestick, you only need the spoons themselves and glue.

By gluing the spoons together as shown in the photo and attaching a candle to the top of the structure, you will get a stylish decorative element that will brighten up any holiday.

Decorative frame

You can also use disposable spoons to create original frames that decorate various interior items.

Note!

For this you will need:

  • spoons in large quantities;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • polystyrene foam or thick cardboard;
  • a watch, a small round mirror, a photograph or another item that is valuable to you.

After measuring the diameter of the desired object, cut out a circle of the appropriate size in cardboard or foam plastic.

Place a watch, photo or mirror in the resulting frame and secure it. Cut off the handles of the spoons. Glue the rounded parts of the spoons to the frame in rows in a circle, from the edge to the center.

Color the finished product of your creativity the way you want.

  • scissors;
  • dye.

The cutlery stand allows you to store tablespoons, teaspoons, forks, and knives used by the family every day, separately from each other. Unlike trays designed for kitchen drawers, coasters are installed on kitchen counters in the dishwashing area.

What to make a stand for devices from

Manufacturers offer ready-made stands made of wood, plastic, metal, ceramics, or combinations. You can also make your own kitchen accessory from these materials, but only if you have the skills to work with them, special machines and tools.

Simpler options are made from scrap materials: tin cans, wooden boxes, kitchen boards. Additionally, you may need: acrylic paint in aerosol cans, jute thread, thick fabric, pieces of leather or suede.

Preparatory work

First, choose 4-6 containers of the same size. The height of the cans should be 2/3 of the length of the cutlery. First, they are thoroughly washed, dried, and the upper part is smoothed out from burrs using pliers. Then they are painted with acrylic paint, which will protect against corrosion.

Reference! For work, it is better to use paint in cans, which lays down in an even layer and makes painting the inner surface easier.

To properly cut the board, place it on the table and place 4 or 6 cans on it (2+2 or 3+3). A second plank is laid between them, which will serve as an intermediate support. They mark, cut, sand, paint.

Place the jars on the base, mark holes in the center using a long nail or screwdriver and hammer. Small holes are made on the board in the marked places. In this way, the cans will be attached to a wooden base.

Similar operations are performed with an intermediate support installed between the banks. In the upper part of the containers adjacent to the base, the fastening point is also marked with a nail.
You can use jute rope as decoration by wrapping it around the top and bottom of the cans in 3-4 turns.

Cutlery stand: step by step

There are several ways to make a placemat.

Stand made of tin cans

After preliminary preparation of materials, all that remains is to assemble the entire structure together. This is done in 3 steps:

  1. Using self-tapping screws, the cans are secured to a wooden base at the designated points.
  2. Install a second board between the cans and secure them with self-tapping screws.
  3. A ready-made furniture handle or one made of leather is attached to the end of the board for easy carrying of the stand.

Attention! As an intermediate board, you can use a ready-made kitchen board with an elongated upper part and a hole cut in it for mounting on a hook. It will make it easier to carry the stand without a handle.

For jars without jute decoration, you can use small signs cut from the same leather as the carrying handle. Write on the sign the purpose of each container (forks, spoons, knives). You can draw some small drawings (smiley faces, spoons, forks, figures). Glue with special glue.

Stand made of kitchen boards

To work, you will need 3 identical kitchen boards, thick fabric with any pattern (checkered, flowers, polka dots), and braid. Assembling a kitchen accessory step by step:

  1. A rectangle is cut out of fabric along the width of the board, 2/3 of the length of the cutlery in height.
  2. Place the prepared fabric on a board and decorate the top with braid.
  3. Using small furniture nails or a stapler, attach the braid with fabric to the wooden base.
  4. Boards with pockets are hung on 3 separate hooks or on a ready-made hanger for kitchen utensils.

Three boards hanging next to each other with pockets for knives, spoons and forks look unusual and original. If the material is selected in the right color scheme, then the set will definitely become a decoration of the kitchen.
