Do-it-yourself palm tree from plastic bottles step by step. Making a palm tree from plastic bottles - selection of material, step-by-step assembly process

My youngest son, he is seven years old, loves to make things. It doesn’t matter what he works with - construction sets, plasticine or cardboard - any craft in his hands turns into something important and useful for him. He especially likes it when dad or mom participate in this process. Of course, we almost always don’t have enough time for such things, but if we get down to business, we work together and bring what we started to the end. The most serious of our collaborations was a palm tree from plastic bottles.

Before closing kindergarten for repairs, all parents were instructed to do some crafts. The teacher told me: “Your vacation assignment is a palm tree of bottles.” Scratching our heads, we got to work. We collected brown and green flowers and found a couple of long iron rods, prepared drill.

We started with the trunk: the bottom of each bottle was cut off to a height of about 20 cm. The edges were cut into teeth for texture and bent a little to look like the scales of a palm tree trunk. I drilled a hole in each blank, the diameter of a long iron rod, which was supposed to serve as the basis for the barrel.

We cut the green bottles in half and cut the edges of each according to the shape of the leaves. I left necks on one of the halves, and I also drilled holes of suitable diameter at the ends of the others.

Having made all the preparations, we started assembling!

We take an elastic rod, not thick, but hard. When we make our leaves for the plastic palm tree, we cut the bottles and insert them one into the other, neck into neck, but leave a cork on the last bottle. We drill a cork and thread a rod, bend the rod at the end so that the leaves don’t fall off, that’s all.

That's all, dear readers, thank you for visiting and reading my site, I advise you to learn how to do

Crafts for the garden occupy a place in my creativity important place. Using waste material, I was able to turn the yard multi-storey building to a fairy tale kingdom. AND White birch from plastic bottles in this kingdom comes first. Making such birch is very simple.
- So, to make such a tree from plastic bottles, we will need:
- bottles of green and Brown for leaves,
- plastic pipe and fittings for the barrel,
- electrical cable for branches,
- thin wire.

Photo 1. Making branches: cut pieces of electrical cable - shorter for the upper branches.

Photo 2-4. Making the barrel: plastic pipe We make holes and sequentially insert cable sections into them. We insert fittings into the pipe.

Palm tree made from plastic bottles. Author Oksana Abramova.

I'll be happy to show you. It's very fast and exciting process, just collect, cut and cut bottles!

Master class “Palm tree made from plastic bottles”

Photo 1. For the trunk we need brown bottles different sizes from 1.5l to 2l or 2.5l.
Cut off a little less than half from the neck of the bottle. But I didn’t throw away the bottom of the bottle either, but at the same time collected the second barrel (above in the photo - on the right). It is cut in a similar way to this one. But for assembly, in the bottom, you will need to cut holes using a hot knife (I heat the knife on gas stove and cut a hole required diameter- the size depends on the rod on which you will put them on).

Photo 2. Cut into 8 parts to the point where the narrowing towards the neck begins. And give these parts the shape of triangles

Photo 9. We start cutting our leaves from the middle of the top on both sides (about 0.4-0.5 mm), while leaving at least 1.5 cm in the middle of the sheet (between the cuts).

Photo 10. We unbend each strip in the following sequence: 1-down, 2-skip, 3-up, 4-skip and so on. That is why our foliage will look lush.

Photo 11. For the stock, I used metal-plastic pipe(diameter 20 mm), you can adjust the height yourself.
We begin to assemble the barrel, first using parts from more large bottles and gradually (to the top of the palm tree) we move to smaller ones. We collect them with their necks down, insert them into each other (glass into glass), and for each next part, the petals rotate in a checkerboard pattern (in the spaces between the previous ones).
I attached the first part to a metal-plastic pipe using narrow double tape (it sticks tightly, I tried to tear it off this year and couldn’t), but if you don’t trust it, then add a little glue.
Not reaching about 30 cm to the top of the stem, our trunk ends and foliage begins. Place the finished leaves in a checkerboard pattern (each next leaf in the space between the previous ones), alternating different colors bottles
To beautifully cover the top of the palm tree (to give a finished look), I cut 1.5 liters in half. brown bottle, as for the trunk. Then she cut it from top to bottom into thin strips (like cutting leaves), and gathered it together with her hands, as if wrapping it. I glued the neck of the bottle, using the same tape, to the top edge of the pipe.
For fastening, I used reinforcement (12 mm in diameter) 70 cm high (30 cm in the ground, 40 cm in the trunk). And she put a metal-plastic pipe on it, like a skewer, that is, the finished palm tree itself.

Photo 12. ready!

Together with my son, we agreed to make a palm tree from plastic bottles for the garden. It turned out that there are a considerable number of ways to implement the idea. Wanting to get the best copy, we tried several assembly schemes exotic plant, which we’ll tell you about.

When we started assembling a palm tree from plastic bottles, we fully experienced main problem: a huge amount of containers is needed! It must be taken into account that all this abundance of bottles must be washed, cut and collected with your own hands. The scissors gave my son calluses. During the work, three ways to solve the issue were discovered:

  • make a small tree;
  • use technology with less material;
  • paint transparent bottles.

This all passed through our hands several times

As a result, we decided to make a medium-sized tree. Only three bottles were painted. We achieved the use of containers almost without scraps, that is, 90%. 35 brown and the same number of green plastic bottles were used for the entire product. Here is a description of the creation of what you see in the photo, as well as a diagram for assembling a small and large tree with your own hands. We made a man under a tree from plastic bottles earlier.

A man-made palm tree and a “local resident” created earlier

Assembling a trunk for a medium-sized palm tree

Let's start assembling the tree from the trunk. It requires a metal tube that easily fits into the neck of the bottle in diameter. The tube should be 50cm longer than the palm tree: this part will be in the ground.

We used a 150cm long tube entirely to assemble the barrel. For installation on site, we drove 50cm of reinforcement into the ground, 1m long, onto which we placed the tube. load-bearing structure palm trees Below are step-by-step instructions and a diagram for assembling crafts for the garden. The step numbers here and below correspond to the numbers in the pictures:

The result was a palm tree trunk. The tree diameter is not the same due to use different bottles, but this is how it happens in nature.

Small palm tree trunk

We know that there are uneven projections of branch remains on the surface of the palm tree. At a short distance they are clearly visible, so for small tree would be better suited barrel of a different design.

A small palm tree may have a different trunk design

A small palm tree can be installed in the country house right next to the wall of the house. In this case, you need to perform the following steps step by step:

Technology for making a trunk for a large palm tree

There is a third way to make a palm tree trunk. If we want to make a big tree For a dacha close in size to a natural one, the examples already discussed will not be suitable due to the disproportionately small diameter of the trunk and the fragility of the structure. In this case, you will have to cut off the very bottom parts of the plastic bottles, and then drill them and fasten them with screws or nails to the log. Of course, you will need a lot of containers.

Option for making a natural sized barrel

Master class on making a crown for a medium-sized palm tree

Now let's take care of the crown exotic wood. To assemble it, we also chose a design that makes full use of plastic bottles. The bottles vary, and we pre-divided them into five groups for the five branches of the tree, trying to keep each set roughly the same. To assemble the crown, you need to follow these steps step by step:

Like the trunk, the crown of a palm tree can be made different ways. Very convenient to choose required option, based on the size of the tree. Returning to a medium-sized sample, you can create a fluffier crown. However, in this case you will have to cut the bottles in 5mm increments, that is, do three times the amount of work with your own hands. In addition, in this case only the top third of the bottle is used, which will require three times more source material.

Making a crown for a small tree

Now here is a master class on making a crown for a palm tree small size. This craft is good for beginners. In this case, it takes noticeably more time to work with each detail, but noticeably fewer bottles will be required, and the tree crown will have more natural look at a short distance to a small tree.

This crown will only require a few bottles. Step-by-step instruction will be as follows:

Other options for making an artificial tree crown

Options for palm tree crowns different leaves

Note that palm leaves can be cut using different patterns. If you awaken your imagination, you can come up with something new and make your own palm tree from plastic containers.

Any garden will seem unusual and original if you plant a palm tree there. However, in our climate this idea is impossible - winter tropical plant obviously won't survive. An alternative would be plastic palm tree. The product is not afraid of frost and does not need to be watered.

Craft materials

There are several ways to make a palm tree from plastic bottles, and each uses the same components:

  • Plastic bottles - brown and green. Better than two or one and a half liters.
  • Scissors.
  • Scotch tape or glue.
  • A long, even stick that will serve as the base - iron, plastic or wood.
  • Small wires or twigs for palm leaves.

Stages of product creation:

  • Wash and remove labels from bottles.
  • Make leaves.
  • Make a tree trunk.
  • Attach the leaves to the trunk and install in the yard.

This short description upcoming actions. Below are several instructions for beginners. Everyone will be able to choose which palm tree will look better in the yard.

First way

Creating leaves

Green bottles are cut in half. You only need the part with the neck. A narrow section of it remains untouched, and the rest is cut into many small strips. When a lot of blanks are made, they are all strung on a cable.

It is advisable to fasten them with glue or tape so that they are firmly attached to each other. You need to make at least 5-6 leaves. If you get more, the tree will look even more attractive.

Palm trunk

The trunk requires brown bottles. The lower part of the bottom is cut off and the rest of the bottle is used. The process of creating a workpiece is identical to the first point - longitudinal strips attached to the neck are cut.

However, if in the first case the more stripes the better, then there should be six of them. The edges are neat, slightly pointed and curve inward. You need a lot of preparations. The more details, the longer the palm tree will be.

It is advisable to select the length of the rod on which they will be strung, but it is important to take into account that part of it is dug into the ground.

Preparing the base

As already mentioned in point two, the rod needs to be dug in. It must be deep enough in the ground so that the structure does not fall from the wind. Brown parts are strung on it. The neck of the first workpiece is slightly buried along with the rod.

We attach the leaves to the palm tree

The blanks from point one should have wires sticking out from the necks of the bottles. Using wires, the crown is tied to the top of the tree.

Second way

The steps are roughly similar to option 1. Only the type of cutting of parts changes, and this also changes the appearance of the product.

In this case, the brown bottles are not completely used, but only 1/3 of them (which is at the narrow part). Instead of 6 long strips, 8 short pointed petals are cut out.

To make the palm tree wide and voluminous, the petals should stick out. Due to a lack of materials, you can use the bottom of the bottle in a similar way, but then you need to punch a hole in the bottom.

The leaves of this palm seem more real. For realism appearance In addition to green bottles, you can use yellow ones. You can also experiment with the size of the leaves. For huge sheets, you can take six-liter bottles, and for small ones, one and a half liter bottles.

The bottom of the containers is cut off, and the remaining part is cut into 3 leaves attached to the neck. The leaves have a longitudinal shaft (about 1.5 cm) and the rest is cut into many thin transverse strips on both sides of the leaf shaft.

In order to present it visually, the leaves will resemble, familiar to many, fern leaves. To make the tree lush, the fringe needs to be fluffed - the strips are bent alternately up or down.

You need to fasten the parts to each other, just like in the first method.

Third way

The leaves are made from the bottoms of one and a half liter bottles. They are cut, holes are made in the middle and strung on a cable. Such a sheet ends, on the contrary, with the thin part of the bottle.

In this option, a thin base will not work. For the base you need to use a long log. The bottoms of the brown bottles are cut off and nailed to the log until it is completely covered.

A description of these 3 methods can give creative people inspiration to create new ones, unusual options. A little tip: the ideas for creating leaves and trunk can be combined as the taste of the garden owner dictates.

In the photo, especially skillfully made palm trees from plastic bottles, are surprisingly similar to the real ones. The yard in which such beauty “grows” will look like exotic tropics, even in a snowy winter.

Instructions for making leaves

At first glance, it may seem that making a tree from plastic bottles with your own hands is very difficult. But if you act step by step, it turns out that it is not only easy, but also very exciting. First of all, let's start making the crown of the palm tree. Take a plastic bottle and cut the bottom to about 1/3 of the bottle's length. The bottom will no longer be useful, and the part with the neck will become a blank for foliage. In the first case, using a stationery knife or scissors, we make longitudinal cuts towards the neck, without cutting 3-4 cm to it. The width of the strips can be arbitrary, but the crown of small leaves looks most impressive.

The second version of the leaves is made in the following way: the workpiece is cut into four equal parts (cuts towards the neck of the bottle); We bend each part and, using scissors, give it the shape of a needle-shaped, figured sheet.

How to make a palm tree from bottles, the first or second method - decide for yourself, it's a matter of taste. The finished leaves will need to be collected into a branch. To do this, take a rope or cable and string all the blanks one by one in one direction so that the neck fits into the cavity of the previous bottle. One palm branch will require about 5-7 finished pieces. Be sure to screw the cork onto the neck of the first “sheet” - this is necessary to secure the rope. Don't forget to leave a long edge so you can gather all the branches together later.

Important! If you have a child, and the palm tree is within his reach, then the cut edges of plastic bottles should be melted so that the baby does not get hurt.

How to create a trunk for a palm tree

Let's proceed to the next stage of making a palm tree from plastic bottles - barrel assembly.

The trunk of a palm tree can also be made in several ways, and here are some of the best ones:

Decorative elements for the garden made from plastic bottles not only attract admiring glances with their uniqueness, but also have an unlimited shelf life - they are not afraid of either snow or heat. One of the record-holding palm trees is decorative tree, the trunk of which reaches 4.5 m in height.

Connection of the trunk and crown of an evergreen tree

The final stage of assembling your craft will be connecting the finished parts: branches and trunk. This is a very important and responsible part, because the stability of the entire structure depends on how correctly everything is done.

We will tell you how to make a tree from plastic bottles that is safe and reliable.

Here the rest of the equipment will come to the rescue: tape, construction glue and wire. To begin, we will connect the remaining edges of the rope on which the leaves were strung into a bundle and wrap them with tape. If additional fixation is needed, we tie the branches of the leaves with wire, wrapping it around the base of the necks. We connect the resulting bundle to the tree trunk using glue (or construction foam

). If necessary, make a few more rolls of tape at the junction. Did you like the article?
